@el_heffe has @SpectateSwamp recorded anything like this? The world needs to know?
-
Wait, @Ben-L is that old? Or am I confusing another @boomzilla alt?
-
Still looking good, happy 50th bday ya hairy goof
-
And no one has managed to film another one since.
The secret government organization dedicated to covering weird stuff up for no clear reason has done a really good job of keeping them away from the public.

Maybe because it's an admitted hoax?
(And it's always a hoax. The only variable is how long until the hoaxer admits to it.)
-
@el_heffe because you posted the topic and I hit reply and it put your name in?

@masonwheeler I don't recognize the second one there.

@heterodox They're the team from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., who essentially play the role of MiBs in the MCU.
For example, from one of the earlier episodes:
Coulson: Remember the panic when that anti-matter meteor splashed down just off the coast of Miami, nearly devoured the city?
Skye: ...no?
Coulson: Precisely.

Admitted by whom? There were only two witnesses to this. The guy who shot the film died in 1972 and always insisted it was real. The other guy also claims it is real, although in a 1999 interview he said that if it was a hoax he wasn't in on it.
But it looks fake to me and many expert anthropologists say it looks fake. So I would tend to go with that.

SCP Foundation
Every time I see SCP now all I can think of is those shitty video games Lowtax and Shmorky played with the flying poopy bloody baby monster.
Also Shmorky's great SCP item (in a different video, I don't remember which), which was: "A blimp in the sky that says to Google Ron Paul but when you go to your computer you can only use Bing!"
To which Lowtax replies, "well fortunately that'll never happen. People who want more information about Ron Paul, I mean."

Yeah, nobody would remember that since a lump of antimatter the size of a meteor would annihilate with enough force to kill off basically all life on the planet

The "size of a meteor" can be as small as a speck of dust. One big enough to survive passage through the atmosphere and "splash down" (at which time it becomes a meteorite) is going to start out significantly larger than that, and it stands to reason that one made of anti-matter that is undergoing annihilation as well as thermal ablation would probably have to be even bigger to survive. However, the annihilation produces primarily γ-radiation. While it's going to be unpleasant to be nearby, it's not obvious to me that life on the other side of the planet would be severely affected.
It depends, of course, on how big it is. Something the size of the Tunguska event, sure, it's going to be catastrophic. If it starts out at a size that the surviving impact object is a pebble, not so much.

I'm still an avid reader. Something about the meticulous scientific documentation thing really gets me.

The writing of the ones I've seen are pretty stupid. In fact they make a fun of a couple of the poorly-written ones in that video. ("I often have wild fantasies about computer processors!") (And Shmorky points out that blood used as ink wouldn't be red.)
The concept for the website is pretty cool and genuinely creative, but SCP isn't, you know, very good at all. Especially the video games, which are utter shit.

Some of them are bad; most of them are good. You may just not appreciate them the way I do. The stories can be pretty good too.

@pie_flavor SCP-1000, to be precise. Though I personally hate that one.

Ghosted. New show this season on Fox. They work for "The Bureau Underground" and their job is to cover up paranormal stuff. Really a comedy show.

@dcon I'd like to see any of those fictional agencies manage to keep stuff secret without their super convenient magical memory-erasing technology.

@boomzilla They'd just call anyone who reports it "fake news"? I guess it could work.
Also, boy, Twitter replies are such a bastion of logic and civilizedness.
