"Reducing regulations at the federal level is a topic that everybody talks about," he said. "Some of these requirements, those kind of things don't sit right with me."
Some of the requirements like that you don't have bugs in your bakery? Indeed. Go choke on a bag full of dicks.

I'm gonna need you to keep your "love" out of my baked goods.

But, but, but... bugs (and other things you'd not expect) are allowed - according to the FDA:
I hope you're not eating...
Action levels (i.e. amounts up to the numbers mentioned here are permitted, but not required):
- Wheat Flour
- Average of 75 or more insect fragments per 50 grams
- Average of 1 or more rodent hairs per 50 grams
- Cornmeal - Average of 1 or more whole insects (or equivalent) per 50 grams
- Canned Citrus Fruit Juices - 5 or more Drosophila and other fly eggs per 250 ml or 1 or more maggots per 250 ml
- Ground Oregano - Average of 1250 or more insect fragments per 10 grams
- Bay (Laurel) Leaves - Average of 1 mg or more mammalian excreta per pound after processing
- Red Fish and Ocean Perch - 3 % of the fillets examined contain 1 or more copepods accompanied by pus pockets
- Wheat Flour
-
@pjh Oh, fuck off. Of course I'm eating those things. Those levels are in recognition of the fact that it's impossible to get to zero. There's a big difference between "close to zero" and the conditions described in TFA.

Duh. Those are the major sources of protein for vegans.

Thank god, requiring that in your food would definitely be regulatory overreach.

I honestly think states should be free to choose whether their bakeries are allowed to sell bread crawling with bugs.
This way the put-bugs-in-all-the-food party will be happy and stop whining about oppression, the places that vote for that party will get to eat bug poop in their food as a punishment, and most importantly, the other, saner states won't have to reach a compromise with them on that topic.
Downside: a lot of people will have to move to those other states. But at least they will take their economic contributions with them.
