Sometimes you just can't get a break

In May, Marcus Hutchins became famous for figuring out how to shut down the WCry ransomware virus. Then, earlier this month, he was arrested in Wisconsin on charges that accuse him of creating and distributing the Kronos malware that steals banking credentials. He has pleaded not guilty and is currently free, pending trial.
Tor Ekeland, a criminal defense attorney who became popular in hacking circles in 2014 for successfully defending Andrew "weev" Auernheimer, had started a legal defense fund on Hutchins' behalf.
Now it has been discovered that the legal defense fund has received more than $150,000 in donations originating from stolen credit cards.
