Android Oreo

TIL I've been unwittingly pronouncing it pretty close to the "official" pronunciation. I pronounce it "In-gin-icks" (like @bb36e it sounds like). So I guess that's "engine X" if I pronounced "engine" differently as well.
Ditto.

On another note, just got Android Oreo and pretty pleased with it thus far, except the options for what items to sync per account seem to have been removed.

Why?!? That's an important feature for people with multiple accounts.

Also there's not an option I can find to save a contact on the local phone or SIM card vs. Google account. WTF?! I'm starting to get infuriated by the amount of options Google is removing in order to better emulate the Fisher-Price operating system.

I'm dying here.

I found you can apparently disable the GoogleContactsSyncAdapter through Settings > Apps > All and then you'll have the option to save locally again (since you can't save to the Google account). Ridiculously shitty that you have to pick one vs. the other, but works for me and I do approve of it not requiring root.
(I have my Google account on my phone only so I get app updates, so I'm likely to disable all the sync adapters as the equivalent of turning off each of the sync items in Accounts. @abarker, I'm afraid that won't work for your multiple accounts use case though.)
Speaking of root, TWRP 3.1.0-0RC1 absolutely doesn't work for me on the Pixel so I haven't gotten that far yet. I want root so I can use Titanium Backup to restore apps + data from my old phone, but I'm willing to hold off on it for a bit. Even if I do root, I'm likely to stick with the stock OS + apps for a bit as I'm pretty happy with them.

Even easier, you can install MyLocalAccount apparently. This has apparently been a problem since 2012? What? It's never been a problem for me before. https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/36942113. Closed Won't Fix (Obsolete). Fuck you, Google.

Can't disable the adapters for pretty much anything else without disabling the app. Awesome.

There's supposition about the cause, and a workaround if it's correct:
some have suggested that the Mobile Data Always Active option is to blame. You can access this setting by enabling Developer Options and flicking the toggle to the disabled position. In previous versions of Android, the Mobile Data Always Active option was disabled by default, but is enabled now in Oreo.

They're watching Apple too much. "We know what's better for you. You don't need that option anymore. We know what to do."

Maybe 1% of people think this. Another 30% or so never noticed. And the last 69% or so got confused with the last one and called Google/Samsung/Verizon/AOL asking what this confusing option meant.

No, I think you're confused. Gent and Le Mans aren't related.

I like Google's public transportation option ... it includes Belgian rail, Thalys (international high-speed train), Metro in Paris, TGV (French high-speed train) and a French bus and takes less then an hour more then the car options ...

Mcflurries have always tasted like concentrated syrupy 'ice cream'. I can't even eat half of the small one without getting a stomachache :/

Yes, we all are. My point is that we're still the overwhelming minority here, and their decisions in regards to that actually make sense.
