App Sotre buplishnig

I'm curious about how long it typically takes to have an app published once submitted for publication. Specifically, I'm curious about how long it takes in Google Play, Amazon, and the Windows Store (also the iOS App Store, but that's less important at the moment).

Windows Store
This should be quick, since you must be the only one that submitted an app there
-
@TimeBandit Weird fact: Google Play processed it quicker :P
-
I've heard very, very bad things about the Apple store... but it's not as if developers have a choice

We've not yet submitted to the Apple
DungeonStore, as we've not yet got a set-up to build the app.

Google Play employees are used to approving apps.
Windows Store, not so much

Kinky.
I'd buy that for $99/year!
-
@RaceProUK So you found the answer and didn't post it, like we do on stackoverflow?
-
@fbmac I wasn't really looking for an answer, more just general experiences.

Not surprised at all. Google is pretty developer-friendly IME. Updates are also available almost instantaneously on the Play Store. Apple will let you wait a week or two.
-
Isn't Google's approach more like "upload, virusscan, approve automatically, take down when users complain" while Apple first wants to play with the app itself?
-
@AlexMedia
I hope they at least buy the app a drink first.
-
Sometimes I feel as though you'd have better luck having your app approved by North Korea's Dear Leader to be used by their citizens than have Apple approve your app. They have very strict and seemingly arbitrary standards (even though they insist they are all very hard-cut rules). In my experience, I've had apps pending approval for 2 weeks before they'd have a few blockers like, "app links to a website that sells stuff which circumvents our in-app purchases" or "app isn't friendly to people who are blind deaf and dumb" (it being a music playing app).
I remember a year or two ago during the whole Confederate Flag controversy, Apple just pulled every single game that used the flag, including a few games that took place in the American Civil War, and probably some historic apps as well.

Think "sot" plus "Sartre".

My experience so far
Google
Seriously, within a couple of hours of submission, the app was available worldwide :DAmazon
They took their time, but met their self-imposed 24-hour deadline.Microsoft
Yeah...
-
@RaceProUK they're still looking for someone with a Windows phone to try it first
-
@TimeBandit Yeah, I fear Bert's on holiday.

Yea, the hardest part about publishing on the Play Store is paying the (one time!) $25 fee to allow publishing of apps and waiting for it to propagate across the Googleverse

Bert, if you come back early, I'll buy you !

HE CAME BACK!
i.e. the app's listed now
-
@RaceProUK Time to shop for
-
@TimeBandit Last time I ordered cookies, they got delivered three days late to the wrong person in a town over five miles away from the person I ordered them for. Bert can have an Amazon gift voucher instead.

Sure you do: Don't be an iDiot, and then you don't have to worry about it in the first place.
-
@masonwheeler You do as long as other iDiots exist.
-
@anonymous234 If you can live without the less than 30% market share of iOS, why bother ?
-
@TimeBandit Those 30% spend more than twice the money (per user) than Android users do though.
-
@anonymous234 ...which means they still bring in less total revenue than Android, so if it take a non-trivial amount of dev effort to set up and maintain, you're getting a bad ROI.
-
@masonwheeler And don't forget, there is NOTHING that guaranties your app will be published by Apple.
So you could spend months in development for absolutely nothing.
Fuck iOS

Because a Microsoft Gift Card would be right out.
