For some reason I am unable to go into the TIL thread (https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/14468/til-about-the-dark-arts-of-html/1914). It just sits there with the spinner in the top right corner. This is the only topic I've gone to that does this. Also using the nav bar buttons to go back to /unread etc. works fine. Dev console is completely empty when going to the thread. Anyone got any ideas?

@Erufael

@Erufael What happens if you replace the slug with something else? For instance:
-
@boomzilla It hung for a couple seconds, then went through.

Following each of these links took forever to load†. Going through history opened pretty much immediately, finishing several seconds before the first two finished.
History pointed at a latter post though. so it must be something in those particular posts that is taking time to load.
†Refreshing was much faster, due to cache I guess.
-
@Zecc Dunno...they're both pretty quick for me. But by now mongo should be good at fetching whatever is there.
-
@boomzilla Both pretty quick for me too

Seems to be loading quick now after getting to the last post, even after clearing cache and going into it again.

@HardwareGeek Can't not upvote a Blazing Saddles reference. xD

I clicked to test and it froze forever. Around the 3rd test it stopped happening. Now it loads fast.

TIL that animal that are domesticated like cattle go back to after a few generations something like an Auroch.
Also wild pigs actually change their hairiness by being wild.

@lucas1 Not sure if mistaken thread, or.....? O.o
-
@Erufael I learnt it yesterday. but in 24 hours. So fits the thread no?
EDIT: I thought was like Reddit TIL thread. Hands up that was dumb.
-
@lucas1 Gonna go with mistaken thread. lol. This one is about me not being able to access the real TIL thread.
-
@Erufael I was like "I learnt about Animals turning back into their non-domestication"
"This is the wrong thread".
LOL
-
@lucas1 fuck I was trying to find the bit of the Joe Rogan podcast where they were talking about it (couldn't find it was 3 hours long FFS).

No. There are a few iframely things nearby but nothing excessive. Maybe one of them is slow to return.

Too fast. Rather do Commujism music

@lucas1 To each their own! xD

TIL there are more atoms in the universe than there are grains of sand on Earth!
- Take a single grain of sand.
- Identify the number of atoms in that grain of sand. We'll call this number n. Note that n > 1.
- Assume that G is the total count of grains of sand on Earth.
- Repeat steps 1-2 for all grains of sand on Earth and sum total as NGE. Note that NGE > G.
- Realize that if NGE > G, then the number of atoms in the universe is obviously greater than the number of grains of sand on Earth.
- ??? ??? ???
- Profit.

well yeah i mean your right but it really is amazing if you think about how much sand there is, try to count the grains of sand in a sandbox and I guarantee there'll be so much sand that you'd get bored very quickly
-
@bb36e That's why you hire a scientist do it for you. That's how we have current numbers, right?

@coderpatsy they have supercomputers!
