I bought a pillow made of triangles. Here's my story.

@RaceProUK Yeah, I thought about it for about a week before I decided to commit to the kickstarter, and that was with them doing it for 20% off if you kickstarted it (so I got mine for $80, plus a couple of stress-ball like squishies made of the same material they tossed into all the backer packages).
It's not cheap, and the mattress will be worse (it's about $1000 US for the mattress), but if it's good enough and will help with some of the neck or back pain I get, then it might be worth it.
Edit: Once the thing actually arrives (FedEx is saying Friday, so we'll see), I might just do a little mini-documentary thread about the first couple days with it, see how it goes.
So this thing (the Purple Pillow, since I just realized the quoted post doesn't reference it) has finally arrived.
First thing I notice is the deep purple bag everything appears to come in.
Packed in the end are the "squishies" they included as part of the backer rewards, the pillowcase from same, and a plastic bag containing a folded up purple thing I assume is the inflatable booster.
Immediately underneath that is a rolled-up white thing, which I pulled out and discovered was the pillow itself. I'll give them one thing, for something that weighs 10 pounds, I wasn't expecting this thing to be so floppy.
Here's everything laid out. I guess you can use the battlemat it's partially laying on to see some scale (those are standard 1" squares)
The dark line on the pillow itself is a zipper. You can unzip the white cover to reveal the actual pillow part itself, and to allow you to put the booster inside said cover once it's inflated I suppose. I unzipped the hell out of it and pulled out this:
Feeling it, it's somewhat strange. It's squishier and floppier than I expected, but because it's laid out in the triangle grid pushing on part of it doesn't really deform much past that immediate area. It's got a decent resistance to it too. Just laying a hand on it won't squish it much.
I zipped it back up in its cover, took it upstairs, and plopped it on the bed for a little test run. It definitely is more supportive than pretty much every other pillow I have, but in a surprisingly nice way. It's definitely shorter than I'm used to having a pillow currently, so either I'll need to figure out the booster or I'll just plop it on top of one of my existing pillows to raise it up a bit.
It's also pretty good at staying cool, at least from the few minutes I gave it. I tend to run warm, to the point where the few people who have slept beside me have affectionately referred to me as a human furnace, so I like to have a cold pillow to offset that. Unfortunately, most pillows I've tried tend to lose that cool really quickly (as in within a minute), but this seems to keep cool.
I'm also currently used to a very, VERY worn and therefore very deformable pillow that I tend to sort-of wrap around my head while laying on my side. I can't quite do that with this, but based on the couple minutes I spent with it, I don't think I'll need to. It's supportive enough of my head and springs back enough from minor movements that I don't have to fiddle with it much, I can just lay with it and it seems OK.
I'm sure I'll have a more clear opinion after I spend some hours on it tonight.

@e4tmyl33t Sounds like a good start. Alas, having checked on their site, they don't yet ship to the UK. So I'd have to wait to get one anyway.

Excellent....
I'm in need of a pillow, oh what the heck I'll pledge in. Spring 2017 they say? Isn't that like.... Less than three weeks from now?
Plenty of time for @e4tmyl33t to give us tips on... Safety practices... Yes...

@Tsaukpaetra Not sure when the "general release" is slated to be. They just wrapped up making and shipping the pillows for the Kickstarter (almost completely on schedule, too. The schedule called for them all to be shipped by the end of February, and apart from a manufacturing delay the last week of the month pretty much all of them made it out on time), so it might definitely still be a couple weeks before general production kicks in.
I will definitely keep everyone appraised as to how many people I manage to knock out in "pillow fights" with this thing though :D

Uh oh... They don't have estimates on pillow lead times???

Spring 2017 according to the website, so who knows?

It probably makes a great pillow.
I've used it for a seat cushion, and it actually hurt my back. Looked at their beds, and more people complaining about hurt back.
But a pillow should not have that problem.
Let me know. I'm always on the lookout for better support stuff.
-
@Tsaukpaetra Probably because they're not for general sale yet.

I got this unit August of 2014.

It's a memory foam pillow that at the moment looks like a flat rag with a bump along one end. Practically useless.
This one's four times the cost, but hopefully worth it, right?

I bought a tempurpedic bed, and it's sunk in the middle now. Apparently, despite all their insistence, this is exactly what to expect if you're on the large side. That said, it still does the job just fine.
The pillow hasn't had that problem, but it managed to trap some mildew, so now I have to worry about cleaning it, and apparently you can't just throw it in the washing machine, or even dryer.

@Tsaukpaetra that pillow is tiny

So what you're saying is that size does matter?

I'm not sure she's the right person to ask about that.

Why, do they not have different sized pillows in Germany?

It's Germany. Everything is standardized here, from pillows to dicks.

If I understand @Onyx correctly, in Croatia, a pillow is just a dick you put your head on at night.

I could give some context here.
I choose not to.

First Morning update:
This pillow is nice, but is going to take a while to get used to for me, I think. I'm so used to having that one particular pillow wrapped around my head the way it does for so long (over 10 years) that having something that my head is on rather than basically in is unusual. It also seemed to take me longer to fall asleep last night than usual, but that could also be a side effect of me going to bed a little early last night combined with still having some leftover cough from this chest cold thing I had that was playing up.
I will say that I was right in saying it keeps cool, at no point during the conscious times I was on the pillow during the night did it ever feel like it was too warm. After putting it on top of another pillow it was pretty much the right height as well. I suppose I'll play around with the inflatable booster thing today to see how it works and see if that can raise it up enough by itself or if I'll just rely on the "doublestacked pillow" option.
Another thing that I need to get used to is the weight of it. I tend to move around quite a bit, both when I sleep and in the time leading up to falling asleep, and turning from laying on one side to another is usually accompanies by changing what arm I have raised (and therefore usually underneath the pillow I'm laying on.) Having something as heavy as this pillow is that needs to be accounted for during that process is something else that I'll have to get used to over time, but for now feels odd.
I have a feeling that I can get used to this, since most of my issues are likely just due to the odd way I sleep.

I got this one from Costco.
So far, I'm really liking it. And it was only $30US.

Costco privilege.
