Dress pattern - Dorothy for 12 month old?
-
This one's a bit non-techie, but I know we have some sewers / costumers here.
I'm looking to try my hand at costume making; I got a pair of ruby slippers on clearance recently, so I figured-- why not Dorothy?
(It's for Molly who will be ~12mo old for the convention the costume's for).
Anyone have a dress pattern-- or a recommendation for a site to get one?
-
???
I suppose you could start with an overalls pattern and skip the crotch split part.

You're not really going to see a pulled-in waist like that in a infant dress; maybe in a toddler dress. You're also not going to see anything too complicated to put on, or too confining. If you size down something like this and... I'd wear it over a white blouse, but I don't know if that'd be too hot for a baby?

Did anyone else see this:

12 months is kind of the switch over period from infant to toddler. She'll likely be walking or close to it by then

Rule of thumb I go by with babies is to give them one more layer than you feel like wearing. Since @Lorne-Kates is in Canada and not some overly hot hellhole, a blouse or babygrow with something like that over it would be fine
-
@Jaloopa Thanks, I don't really know much about babies.
-
@Yamikuronue I've learned a lot in the last year or so.

By experimenting?

I see you've never been to Canada.
This would be more appropriate

@TimeBandit
I mean, @Lorne-Kates didn't specify a date for the convention. It could be on the summer solstice... surely the scarf wouldn't be necessary then?

Sounds like winter in Texas, which really just means that it probably won't get above 90F (32C). It could be 70, it could be 30, and sometimes both the same day.

And you always use a black suit, right?

Found a good pinafore tutorial online and followed it. Super easy! http://www.whatsmummyupto.com/2012/10/little-birdie-pinafore-my-first.html
Also, Dorothy!Molly met Thor-- aka, another person from somewhere over the rainbow (bridge)
(and yes, she's worthy enough to pick up Mjölnir, she just didn't feel like it)

ooooh! you have those foam rubber puzzle floor time mat thingies too. those are awesome! also really cheap compared to other flooring options, especially when finishing a basement.

The entire open-concept living room is covered with them (6x5), so Molly has the full run of the place. They're awesome.
And yup-- they're great fro flooring. When I built a dance floor in the basement, I wanted to make it a sprung floor. So I could have spent stupid-hundreds of dollars on "dance flooring"-- or I could spend $14 for a pack of those foam pieces, glue them between plywood, and top it with a nice hardwood.
