Annoying mouse defect

Now depending on the mouse wheel position, everytime I left-click it scrolls a bit up when I press the button, and scrolls back down when I release it. :S

Solution:
- Buy a MX518 / G400
- Keep it forever
- ???
- Profit
-
@fbmac You need a mouse button other than this?

@fbmac I tend to break mice. The last one that failed one me, the rod holding the scrollwheel cracked so that no matter how much I moved the wheel, the sensor wouldn't register anything. Best to treat mice as consumables.

I had one (standard, $15) mouse that I literally wore out the left mouse button from playing Minesweeper (back in the pre-Win7 days when you could actually play Minesweeper for time attack, before it got all fancy pants graphics that messed up your ability to play fast )Since then I've destroyed 2 gaming mice (one to ESD, one to the scroll wheel getting sticky), and I'm on my third. Even then, it's only been like $80 every 3 years or so, far from being the most expensive consumable component in my computer...

@izzion IME the extra price you pay for gaming stuff goes into box design and LEDs

I hope you learned an important lesson: Never use the same hand to work your mouse as you do to work your .

Depending on the game(s) you play (and assuming you're a right handed mouser - left hand variants are usually very difficult to find), the custom programmable thumb buttons can be pretty useful. Similarly the variable DPI precision, though I can't say I've ever found a use for actual on-the-fly changes of precision... maybe a Photoshop type usage? But as to whether the buttons actually have a better MCBF rate or not, I haven't looked. They feel more responsive, but then again, I just paid 5x the price of a standard mouse, so that could be my brain justifying the cost :P

As someone who likes spending money on headphones, I know what you mean :p

@izzion the free-scroll wheel the Logitech (maybe other?) gaming mice have is indispensable too.
