If you Gaggle for something like, say, "straddling bus site:what.thedailywtf.com" you get a result.

https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/11465/the-bad-ideas-thread/11155?page=225If you follow that link, you may or may not see the post with "straddling bus". Because it may or may not be on page 225, due to your pagination setting.
It isn't for me. I assume Gagglebot's pagination settings are set to a different number than mine (20).
Can't really think of a solution, since Gaggle is indexing the page, and not any particular term.
The only thing I CAN think of:
- Assuming Gagglebot is using a non-logged in user
- Assuming the non-logged in user is using the default pagination settings.
Can you instead detect if a non-logged in user a Gaggleboot, and if it is The Boot-- pull up the most common pagination settings from all active users?
That way there's a higher likelyhood that if an active user Bings on Gaggle for a term, the pagination settings will match and the link will be pointing to the right spot?

Or... be able to pass a page size query string parameter as well.

Only if it temporarily allows the page size override, and only if it's coming from a known Gaggle referal.
Otherwise click here and watch the entire forum burn.

Is there a way to convince google to use post URLs instead?

@PleegWat
Or when we get the incoming referrer link from google, convert the page number to the post id of the first post on that page (under unlogged user settings) under the hood. Though that could still leave you 19 posts away from the target and on the wrong pagein FF22With Lorne's settings.

@izzion If you're sniffing googlebot you could do the same with smaller pages (even single-post pages). But then google would lose even more of the thread context, and I think they typically say you should show google the same site you show other users or you'll be penalized...

@Lorne-Kates I'm not sure it's even on page 225 if you do have the same settings as GobbleBot.
As a logged out user, the link goes to 225 but the post in question is on 223.

That's probably overkill compared to "only if it's within sane parameters"

No, I mean when an incoming visitor from google comes in, redirect them to /t/p/200 instead of /t?page =10

Instead of resolving pagination by page number, resolve it by the number of the first post on page. AFAIR Reddit does that - just plop a ?firstpost=100&count=25 in the link and get a page starting from post 100,containing 25 posts.

That's against Gaggle's Tarms of Sarvis.
