Is actually a thing

@El_Heffe TR is that they didn't call it Hannah The Montana Linux or HTML.
-
TIL that for releasing a desktop theme, you just create a new Linux distribution
-
@El_Heffe there is a Rebecca black Linux as well
-
@bjolling because of remastersys abuse

That one had historical significance as a wayland tech demo, though.
-
@aliceif yeah it did, fair point.

Q : How/why did you make such a great OS?
A : I thought - what would attract young users to Linux? So I created this idea after a lot of reading and work.Q : How can I watch DVDs and other Media?
A : click the Hannah Montana menu, then Utilities, then Konsole, then type:
sudo apt-get install libdvdcss2 kubuntu-restricted-extrasQ : Is Linux really virus-proof?
A : Mostly - Windows viruses do not affect it at all, and a Linux virus (very rare) can only do damage if you manually give it permission to run............. can't tell if troll or....
The sad thing is, this site is actually better organised than for a lot of "serious" distributions.

More proof that people who create Linux distros don't understand people

These days many desktop-centric distros will give you an option to install that stuff as an option while installing the OS.
My understanding is that due to some patent and copyright bollocks (which differ based on the country you're in) they are not allowed to install requisite libraries without user's explicit consent (and if it's "illegal" for the user to do so the burden falls on the user, not distro maintainer).
Isn't that the case with Windows as well, still? Do MP3 and DVD libraries come preinstalled these days? They didn't use to.
Now, granted, not having an easier way to install that stuff is stupid. Might as well put an icon somewhere in the menu that will show a warning and run the script for you...

@Onyx my point was more the juxtaposition between "I made this for young people who like the Hannah Montanna" and "just run this command line instruction that I'm providing with no context or explanation".

Generally, when you buy a computer the shovelware will include DVD and MP3 players

And it had cutting edge technology at the time, it seems: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTA3Njk
For those that may have extra time this weekend and have been meaning to try out the experimental Wayland Display Server, one of the easiest ways to try out this eventual X.Org Server replacement is by using a Wayland LiveCD that's dubbed Rebecca Black. Besides including a recent snapshot of Wayland, it also integrates the support for various tool-kits and other applications.
This Linux distribution is maintained by "nerdopolis", a Phoronix reader, and previously had published a range of Wayland videos to demonstrate some features of the reference Wayland compositor.

This is inspired by Linux distributions of the same theme (Hannah Montana Linux, and Justin Beiber Linux) that have appeared in the Linux community, only this is Rebecca Black Linux.

aka Biebian.
Biebian is not based off Debian or Ubuntu. It is based off Puppy Lucid 525, and that is part of the joke.

The Media Center editions did, and for a while, all the consumer editions did, but it cost Microsoft money each time for the license they had to pay for the "protected" stuff (i.e. the trade secrets of reading and decrypting DVDs and such). So when 7 came out, they dropped it. If you upgrade XP Media Center to 7+, you get to keep your DVD functionality, and (of course) if you buy a shoveled computer, you get it, but if you install Windows 7+ on a fresh machine, you don't get it. It's still on the Windows DVDs, but the installer won't install it except over the top of existing Windows Media Player stuff.
But all you need to do is download and install VLC, duh. (Well, that was my solution, anyway.)
