You may have noticed the forum crashing after the move yesterday

It's like cancer - the forum crashed because it wasn't dying before the crash would have happened.
Anyway, does anyone have ideas on how to get the URL that caused the crash from the logs? The fix here was applied right after I made the bug report, which is why we're not crashing right now.

@PJH and @boomzilla, your SSH keys should work on the new server and you should be able to sudo. Make sure anything big goes on the /home partition because that's where OVH put like 99% of the space.
-
@ben_lubar Just to confuse things, note that the US was under heavy cyber attack yesterday... maybe one of the site's CDNs got hosed.
-
@Captain Were CDNs under attack? I heard a tier 1 DNS server was the target.

Yes, but there's often collateral damage, since it tends to take quite a lot of traffic to take out a tier-1 service.

By the way, the request that was killing the forum was
PROPFIND /webdav/

@anotherusername There's a DailyWTF movie?!
...who plays @accalia in it?
Filed under: No foxes were harmed in the making of this movie
-
@powerlord if there is a DailyWTF movie, I'm sure I don't want to watch it. Far too many things go on here that I'd rather not have the visuals to match up to.
We watch a lot of movies in my house... on any given day, there's a very high probability that we watched one yesterday.

The flamewars would just be outside the house. PBP will be in the basement, Lounge will be... well, in the Lounge. Turn Left will be somewhere in the attic... General will be the Foyer...
I could see this working out.

Not to mention all the destroyed bikes laying next door!

he really should get that shed fixed

@Luhmann And paint it blue, of course.

@boomzilla would be patrolling the lawn.

was the reason for nodeBB not just doing a “get lost, idiots” response to that? Is the node httpd implementation that shonky?

I absolutely don't doubt it.

Oh weird, a forum where tdwtf people are crashed? Seems like such a strange thing...

We host this thing in Canada ? No wonder it keeps freezing

Haha yeah sure. No, they'd be in the 10 car garage, with moderators posted at the door into the house in a futile attempt to keep the entire structure from being ashed.

No, that sounds too much like work.

I did say futile. Maybe we can bribe them with pans of unpopped popcorn and no stove or microwave?

You can microwave popcorn in a pan? Wouldn't that blow up because of the metal?

Yes, but that's just further motivation for them to use the flames to pop their popcorn, right?
-
@ben_lubar I'm still having intermittent issues with voting. Presses on the vote buttons just doesn't work. No error or toaster. Presses after a reload works.
Servercooties has a blip 10-15 minutes ago, but I don't presume it's related.
Chrome 53.0.27. numbers
It doesn't seem to save last read correctly either.

Well, it will reflect the microwave energy a lot more, which is why it's dangerous as it affects the concentration of waves and whatnot.

I'm getting "Bad Data" more frequently, which can sometimes take a bit to appear.
-
@ben_lubar
Possibly related to the "more Bad Data" symptoms being reported -- I have had to log in on my work computer on 2 consecutive days (yesterday, today), despite selecting "stay logged in". Though as of yet my phone and home haven't had their sessions lost to the ether, so it might not be an actual issue either.

Weird. I used to get that 50% or so of the page loads. I've yet to see it after the move.

People still use DNS?
Wake up, sheeple. DNS is controlled by Big Data. Type IP addresses by hand. Keep an offline notebook with domain-name-to-IP mapping.

My husband has always said Drew Barrymore should play me in my life story (her age corresponding to mine).

She's surprisingly good at depicting a wide variety of ages.
I think she'd make a good fantasy casting choice for an Aes Sedai.
