Don't know if this is a Windows bug, or a shitty touchpad driver bug.
Find a long web page.
Use whatever gesture you use to scroll via trackpad. I use two fingers.
Flick hard so you get an accelerated scroll-- you know, so it's still scrolling after you're done the gesture.
While it is still scrolling, press and hold CTRL.
Does your browser zoom as if you pressed CTRL+Scroll-- even though you aren't actually making a scroll gesture?
-
@Lorne-Kates the driver's just issuing a series of scroll wheel events, as far as Windows is concerned. And holding ctrl makes the scroll wheel events change the zoom.

Yes, because due to coasting the mouse driver is still issuing scroll events. Though, Synaptics is somewhat smart in that it does cancel the coasting as soon as the key is pressed, so only one ctrl+scroll is observed.

What happens when you use a mouse with a freely spinning scroll wheel?

Where we're going, we don't need brakes! Infiniscroll forever, baby!

That'd be a nice feature, sure.

...if they could actually get it to work right, I suppose.

On Windows 7, it keeps coasting, and there's no zoom. This is with a Microsoft mouse.
I'll test on Windows 10 with a mouse when I get home.

something fun I found today with an infinity wheel: if you're on a long thread here, and somewhere down a ways where the things at top aren't loaded, you can fling the wheel so it scrolls up faster than the "need more content" events are caught. you end up scrolled all the way up, on some post that is not #1, where you can no longer scroll up to load more content.
I was gonna report this but of course the forum killed itself right around that time and I lost interest.

@Jaloopa I'm not one of the Fettucine brothers...

Not as much as that baboon beat your father's rump while he was down.
