Exchange distribution lists and recurring meetings
-
If I have a distribution list, and there's nobody on it. And I set up a recurring meeting with that list as an invite. And then I add people to the list. Will they get the invites?
I'm not sure what Exchange level we're at, but Outlook is version 2010, so assume it's no older than that.

In your tray, Ctrl+Right click the Outlook icon, then "Connection Status...". Make the window wider and/or scroll all the way to the right; the rightmost column will display the Exchange version number.

Ah, thanks. It's
14.3.279.4002

My gut feeling is that the answer to your question is "No", but I haven't tried.
Google is only coming up with marginally useful things for me:
- OP's gut is no, only answer is "well try it you moron"
- suggests that the answer might be "Yes but all members of meeting request will get bombed with updates every time DL membership changes" (along with a long manual process to forcibly intercept and remove unwanted meeting updates every time the membership changes, if desired). Not clear to me if this is an Exchange DL or a user created Outlook DL.Also found some grave warnings about not sending meeting invites to a DL from Outlook 2000-2003, but that's not really pertinent here.

Probably not.

Should be easy enough to test, no?

Speaking of,...
Apparently despite all the "Right-Sizing", we still managed to overload the servers. WTF.
