particularly if you can manually group/ungrup tabs.
those six tabs i has open for dynamics econnect, shove them in a tabgroup until i fix this issue with production salesforce and can get back to it.
now they're handy and accessible, but also out of the way when i don't want them and i don't have to deal with this

I think you have a tab problem. It's ok. You can close those tabs. You probably don't need them. They'll be in your history.
That being said, I assume these aren't static tabs that you don't end up ever closing; you're investigating your prod issue like you said, so no tab problem.

tthe first five to ten tabs on the browsers tend to be always open tabs. things like github, or jira, or salesforce, or wtdwtf.
the rest. about half are google searches for something, the rest tabs in various states of "working on"
yeah i could close them but i'd lose my documetnation as to what i'm working on right now.
and i've got 32GB of ram in this work PC. might as well use it.

I don't know what the average number of tabs per window is, but it's over 10. Every window has enough to fill up its tab bar, in any case.
The majority is interesting stuff I want to read at some point but that I don't want to bookmark or put in a hidden tab group because then I'd just forget. Stuff like white papers, interesting projects on GitHub or news articles.
By being in my face it's more likely I'll either read them or become annoyed and rage-close a bunch. But apparently I have a big tolerance towards clutter...
I wonder if it was telemetry data from people like me that made Mozilla partner with Pocket.
