Looks like TeamViewer might be fucked as well

TV: "It's your fault, you had weak passwords that you used everywhere!"
Users: "But we used TFA, and had strong passwords and STILL got hacked"
TV: "la la la la, can't hear you, still your fault!"

Holy crap, it looks like this has happened multiple times in the past few weeks? Or it has been happening continuously? One of the reddit threads is from 16 days ago and then many threads are from several hours ago. Glad I've never touched TeamViewer in my life. The company seems to be completely denying there is any problem.

@LB_ and TV bizarrely put out a response that is dated 5/23 to an article dated 6/1.... wtf? German date syntax isn't THAT weird is it??
-
@tufty Who would put $3000 into Paypal?
-
@blakeyrat people who receive $3000 in donations while they're sleeping? Unlikely, but possible.
-
@blakeyrat He didn't specify having 3k USD actually in his account, it could have been pulled from a card or a bank account.
-
@pydsigner Why would you give PayPal access to your credit card? That's even worse.
-
@blakeyrat They are heavily marketing that though, between "it's fast and easy", "now profit from our cashback scheme!" and "get extended warranties" you have to keep ignoring that kind of lure. They ask to link Every. Single. Time you log in.

And after you do, then you get the consistent constant "offer" for PayPal's credit card, despite obviously having your own already.
-
@JBert Why would you log on to PayPal? That's worst of all!

It's basically what the Google Wallet Card was a copy of. Since Google decided to prematurely kill off the Google Wallet Card, this is what people are falling back to.

Well put that way....
Eh, I already have a Visa, and the only reason I got the Google Wallet card was because it was Mastercard (you know, for kicks).

eBay sank 1.5 billion into it.

Hacks still going on. TeamViewer still insisting they aren't hacked.

From a linked article on the 'megabreaches':
While [MySpace i]s the biggest known breach to hit a single online service, password cracking experts are already dismissing the value of the compromised data. That's because Myspace engineers truncated passwords to 10 characters and converted all letters to lower-case.

Looks like someone started playing along... how does this factor into not doing one's job?
-
Teamviewer are saying nothing is breached and people have been using the same user / pass combination on a different service.

TV: "WTF, that's weird, send us a log and we'll see if we can work out what happened"
Users: "la la la la, can't hear you, still your fault"Also: said it before and I'll say it again: a strong password used for more than one thing isn't strong any more.
