Didn't we already establish that a long time ago?
Yes.

You really shouldn't drink and WTDWTF.

It should be an !important lesson.
Did you really mean unimportant or is it !!important?

Mind blown. I never realized how stupid that keyword looks if you interpret it as a boolean expression.

Not being a webdev (and initially too lazy to look it up), it took me a long time to decide which version was intended, since it made just as much sense for it to mean something like "not important - don't worry about this if there are more important matters or overrides to attend to".
-

CSS: importantly.
-
@dkf It is very !!important to continue this !relevant discussion in this particular thread, with an !understanding OP.

-
@dse most of us know full well that we're the bottom of the pile that is development in general. Some of us would like to progress on to more grown up development but for raisins can't or won't. Mine is a chronic lack of confidence; my PHP skills and webdev in general are sufficiently safe that I don't feel I can leave it for the pastures I'd really want to do, and I'm too old and have a life to the point where joining the game dev industry through the conventional route is not an option (nor would I want the 80 hour week nonsense, but... game dev...)

Why? It all depends on how you interpret
!important
in your world view.@Arantor said in The US: saving the world from itself PART II: Electric Boogaloo:
grown up development
game dev:--)
-
@Arantor You should also remember that there are other directions you can move, e.g., towards back-end service development.
-
@Arantor I like being a web dev. I am good at it. I would like to do something a little more interesting than "pull text from a CMS and then push it to the web browser" but finance is far too serious for me and I've had enough of the gambling industry.
-
So since you guys aren't talking about the actual topic, I'll just assume all my assumptions are correct and the US rules while the EU drools.
-
@blakeyrat I like it. Incisive, yet so nuanced.

Stocks or poker?
-
@blakeyrat EU has universal health care. Even in Brazil we have universal health care.

Why do keyboards fucking move the backslash around? Isn't there a standard for this yet?

If by "a" you mean 345908234523452...

It's not there is no standard, is just more that symbols were originally forgotten in all keyboards, and were shoved in after computers became a thing. ;)

By "a" I mean 97, but then I use

@Dreikin I don't gamble ;-) ... well only on Euros and World Cup.

We mostly just focus on health care for people. I guess veterinarians exist, too.
-
@boomzilla said in The US: saving the world from itself PART II: Electric Boogaloo:

-
@Jaloopa Nah, no one here or pretty much anywhere else has any idea what health care costs.

... and really, they shouldn't. Anymore than you really need to know how much road repair costs. It should just happen, because people pay taxes and society benefits.
Also :usa: (hahaha USA doesn't get a relevant emoticon)

Yeah. We're a serious country.
@Lorne-Kates said in The US: saving the world from itself PART II: Electric Boogaloo:

As I understand it, that depends on the sort of summer we have. Like, how warm, how much rain, etc.

The use of USD for international trade increases it's value, it could be seem as a way we pay taxes to our american overlords.
So, yes, they should save us. Perhaps they should do even more.
I'm all for american imperialism if they help us in return. Maybe we should all have the right to vote for the new earth emperor.

Who's "we"? If y'all don't have any nukes, we might be happy to donate him to you if it would actually improve things.
-
@Dreikin We dont have nukes, but we have nuclear power plants and lots of Uranium. Also, we have some oil.
