Could you pass TDWTF citizenship test?

Re: Could you pass a US citizenship test?
In that same vein, and with the loss of the automatic TL promotion process, I propose the institution our very own TDWTF citizenship test, after passing which one may (after accounting for cronyism, bribery, trollery, and other merits and demerits) be granted lounge access. Or as the
godsdogsmods wish, which is far more likely, really.Anyway, a couple starter questions:
-
Paula Bean is:
- A brillant programmer
- A fairly competent web architect
- A poor role model for mid-level managers
- Another @boomzilla alt.
-
You are asked to implement a date and time library from scratch (and you are neither a language designer nor compensating for one). An appropriate response might be:
- Great idea! I'll get right on it!
- Ugh. Okay, it'll be done by about the end of $next_month.
- Why don't we have $intern do that? It seems like good project for them.
-

I was going for subtlety - if they don't already know the answer, it'll just look like a typo. I did make a minor edit to give the answer selection another subtle component.

Should totally turn this into a survey. Aren't there sites that can make this type of "quiz"?

You mean like WTDWTF Immigration Board?
-
@kt_
Maybe we can declare it a hotspot and get European funding
-
Another good question.
Describe what you think the following code should have done.
var _num1 = document.getElementById('num1'); var _sum = document.getElementById('sum'); _num1.onblur = function summation(){ _sum.value = 0; _sum.value = (parseInt(_sum.value,10) + (isNaN(_num1) ? 0 : _num1.value)); };
For extra points, improve it using jQuery in an unexpected way.

Pendantry is...
- misspelled
- the best kind of correct
- a way of life
- the makings of dickweedery
-
The correct way to send something to someone is...
- braving UPS
- encrypted email containing 3D printing plans via the dark web
- putting it on a wooden table, taking a photo and emailing it
- ranting at them for being stupid for not having it in the first place
-
Which of the following are correct...
- I agree with whatever blakeyrat just said
- I agree with whatever Fox just said
- I agree with whatever Morbs just said
- I agree with whatever flabdablet just said
-
The worst language ever is...
- Visual Basic 6
- MUMPS
- PHP
- any of those stupid code golf languages
-
-
- All of the above
- option 3
- option 3
- option 4
- All of these numbers are 3
-
@RaceProUK I'm sorry, you failed your TDWTF citizenship test, please hand in your membership card at the nearest opportunity.
The following answers were incorrect:
-
Pendantry is not misspelled. It is the approved form of pendantry, much as brillant is the approved spelling for Beanness.
-
You did not observe that the question was incorrectly worded, since only one of the answers was correct, the wording 'which of the following are correct' implying multiple answers is incorrect.
-
You didn't pick either MUMPS (previously voted by TDWTF as the worst of the worst) or PHP (which as any fule kno is simply the Personal Hell Pit)
In other news, NodeBB gets the numbering incorrect as these are replying to 3, 5 and 6 rather than 3, 4 and 6.

@Tsaukpaetra sure. Back in the CS days, Morbs spliced some CSS into his signature that put a speech bubble over the avatar of the poster below that said "I agree with whatever Morbs just said."

With the rate we're changing forum software, we might need it soon.
Anyway, I have a question about Q2: is it multiple choice? Because I do think that it's highly likely that our version of Paula is @boomzilla's alt, even though the original one might have not been.
-
@Yamikuronue I believe you remember incorrectly and that it did indeed say "Morbs" (I remember it from the days when I was just a lurker).
-
@Onyx said in Could you pass TDWTF citizenship test?:

Heh heh, just occurred to me: we already have a bulletin board, so why won't we hold our own immigration board, too?
Get it, they're both boards, it's so funny! Heheheheh… eh… eh… no. :/.

@dcon It's a trick question. The answer is obviously @mikeTheLiar , but that option is missing.

@dcon it's more of a statement than a question.
-
@Jaloopa someone should tell karl to join WTDWTF

@Yamikuronue Ben had this though:

speaking in @apapadimoulis's voice: it was good, hell yeah. And cheap, only one mug. Usually I need to pay at least five, like I did with @Lorne-Kates --and he's Canadian, for Yahweh's sake! God I love those ex-communist countries in central-east Europe!….l

He had reasons. I don't remember what they were. I disagreed with them for obvious reasons.
They were bad reason IMNSHO, but not stupid ones, IIRC.
-
@FrostCat well, if you only want one of (data gets there, data is in order), I can see why you'd implement it over UDP.
