If you're trying to find a thread using search and are just about to cut your wrists, DON'T.

Do this.

Select sort by "Last reply time"
Show results as Topics
Save preferences

Also you can switch to "in Titles only" mode, but only when you're already in the advanced search mode. There doesn't seem to be a global setting to make that the default.

There. Now you can cut your wrists.
