No edit histories? :wtf:

Is there seriously no way to see edit histories, even as mod?
I can only see that posts were edited by someone at some point, but only the most recent edit it seems. And nothing about what exactly got changed.
-
@aliceif Alas, I have only one like to give! (I was one of those people who made their history publicly visible on DC, on the theory that I'm open about what I say and don't mind others knowing that I change things occasionally.)

@Kuro Nope. No edit history even as mod. WTF.

@dkf completely agreed. I only had it off for a while until we figured stuff out and we established a flagging procedure where mods would purge stuff if you accidentally posted PII.
-
@Kuro: mods still see that post. It's just gray. ;)
-
@abarker This is between me and @dkf. Also, you can only read the final message that talks about me deleting the post. Which actually happened.
So.. in other words: Until you can find the edit history or a time machine, you got nothing on me!
Filed Under: In that way, I am currently worse than @fbmac

TBH, I’m kind of glad about that. I’ve never liked that little line most forum software adds (some more obviously than others) that tells people you edited your post. Partly it's because I don’t think it’s anyone else’s business what I edit about my posts, and in fact I don’t see why other visitors need even be told about the post having been edited at all. Another part is that someone else being able to read the post as it was before I edited out my typos and/or added the things I should have remembered before I hit Submit just goes completely against my mildly paranoid nature.

There is an edit pencil next to the timestamp, though.

There is, but it’s nowhere near as intrusive as I’ve seen on some forums and so doesn’t really bother me, especially because you have to move your mouse pointer over it to get details. Browse around this forum that I used to visit for an example of the opposite.
