So let me get this straight...
-
Discourse warns you avatar changes might not take place right away, even though they (in my experience) always do. Ok, fine. Under-promise, over-deliver, etc.
But long name changes, when you save those Discourse doesn't say shit about how long it'll take. But it turns out they don't actually change until you do a hard refresh (as far as I can tell). Huh.
-
It may be Different™ if you're changing your own stuff. I saw your old long name this morning (in another topic where someone mentioned your avatar change), and without any refreshing on my part I now see your new long name. But in that same topic, some of your posts still had the old avatar.
Who knows, maybe Discourse accidentally implemented a true RNG.
-
Vaguely related WTF: When you open the profile popup, presumably to get more information, you actually see less of the long name
-
I keep hovering my mouse over his long name expecting a popup to show me the full text. I have too much faith in Discourse.

That's just how
text-overflow: ellipsis
works. To also get the full text to pop up, they'd have to add a
title
attribute to the<h2>
tag with the same text.

I have too much faith in Discourse.
Any amount of faith in Discourse that is greater than zero is too much.
-
As a side note, i like your new avatar.
-
Meh.
I had to get rid of the black background version because it doesn't work well on this site at all.
Now there's a bit of black background between the thing's legs and his cape, but if I remove it he comes out looking funky-weird because the frame I screenshotted is a weird mid-animation frame, so.
I might chug on it some more when I get home, or just replace it.

Nonsense, black background avatars work great on this site! Or are you going to tell me that we're and any avatars with non-white backgrounds should be round?
-
The original version he didn't have a nose because it blended-in with the black background. Now he has a nose, but also a weird black void beneath his cape.

The void is a Hammerspace portal to that neverending pit where you keep all of your hatred?
-
Have you considered making a round avatar? You could clip most of the blackness out that way I think...
