This guy owns a pet otter and posts videos every few days. And she's cuddly! And noisy...

@boomzilla LOL - "it's not by chance that I remembered honey badgers - they're the same kind of psychos without the self-preservation"

What do you think of this cute animal:
That's not an otter!
But, so what. It's cute!Myocastor coypus is of south american origin. It was brought to Europe for fur industry. Their meat is said to be very tasty too (they are relatives of guinea pigs, so that's quite possible). Some of the animals managed to escape, and in areas with not too cold winters they could establish local populations.
This one was the first one I encountered one in the wild.
Cute!

Cute!Smaller than a capybara which is also native to South America. They are also related to guinea pigs but they are bigger.

Fair warning: I saw this on mute, so I don't know if it has obnoxious sound or not.

@Zecc I'm surprised you can keep otters indoors, I'd expected they would need to be able to swim.

— KOTSUMETI just watched the one where these two are introduced to sparkling water for the first time. I still think they're cute, but I have a lot less respect for them after watching that.

And another Myocastor coypus:
Not shy at all, could take photos from less than 1 meter distance.
Perhaps I could get closer, or even fondle it, but I prefered some distance. Just look at its teeth:
a singlebyte
would be bad already, but abyte[]
would be much worse...

would be much worse...Years ago, I was with my brother and young child (2 yo or so) in South Africa and we saw some dassies:
They were very friendly and obviously used to being approached by humans. I was holding my niece and to get her closer to them, I lured one with a piece of food. But I didn't think too much and the animals I'm more used to feed are horses, whom you feed by holding stuff on your open palm. Dassies are closer to e.g. rabbits or hamsters in that regard and bite to take stuff. Well I learnt my lesson and got a nice little scar in my finger.
My niece was learning to talk and mixing up word order, for days afterwards she repeated "uncle Remi bit the dassie" which made us all laugh.
-
The same trip (but another day), a baboon got inside our car as I was buckling my niece in her seat. The beast simply pushed past my shoulder and jumped over the baby seat! By reflex, I grabbed my niece out of the car (and pushed her in her mother's arms) and... slammed the door to get anything between the baboon and us! And then watched dumbstruck as the baboon jumped around inside the car and realised it was trapped.
After a few seconds and seeing that we had to do something, I opened a door (staying behind it), and luckily the baboon darted out without asking for more. In the end he only took a pack of biscuits so all was well. But we definitely understood why attendants were patrolling the car park with whips in hand (though they were nowhere near us when that happened, so I can't say they were doing a good job).
