What's wrong with my username? Why doesn't discourse like me?

When people write @LB_ it doesn't turn clickable with the background like @accalia does. I don't think I've ever even gotten an at-mention before.
-
it's the trailing underscore.....
apparently underscores are doing it wrong....
-
Funny, because I was forced to have a 3-character-minimum for my username...
-
Oh look: a Link LB_
-
Just because Discourse lets you do something, doesn't mean that something is supported.
-
Also, on your bug report about your own username
https://what.thedailywtf.com/t/mentioning-user-ending-with-underscore-fail/52140/1
-
Yeah I had no idea, apparently it's just impossible to get my attention without PMs.
-
well if you ask an admin nicely we could possibly add a letter you your name and "fix" this issue.....
well i say we, i mean they.
and i say fix......
-
May I please be renamed to "LB" with only those two letters in that specific order? If the 3 character minimum doesn't allow it, then don't bother.
-
Something something submit a bug report on meta.derp
Of course they'll probably respond by banning your username and any others that aren't pure alphanumeric
-
apparently it's just impossible to get my attention without PMs.
It's easy if people only mentioned... ohhhh... wait a minute...
-
May I please be renamed to "LB" with only those two letters in that specific order?
dunno.....
@PJH is that a thing that could happen?
-
Did any/none of the @-mentions even work?
-
I've never seen an at-mention, I don't even know what they look like. I certainly never had any notifications about that other bug report thread that was literally spamming my username.
-
I've never seen an at-mention, I don't even know what they look like
they look like a reply or a like.
-
..... fracking hell that turned huge when i pasted that.....
-
turned huge
Oh, it was always that big. Your DPI was merely high enough that it actually looks fairly normal to you.
Also, .

eeh... true. this is a QHD monitor.

Even in the admin interface, I get an error:

Maybe you should make it L

B?

LBÂelgiuÂm?
-
I guess that would do it.
-
Would it be possible to change the limit, change the name, and then change the limit back?
Actually, don't try that. I remember it causing severe server cooties one other time.
-
A discofigurable setting?
-
Would it be possible to change the limit, change the name, and then change the limit back?
No. When I upped it to 4 ages back, neither I nor Sam could post.
Of course, the error messages being thrown up didn't actually give a salient indication of what it was that had broken.
-
While I have your attention, <big> is broken. It doesn't make things big.
-
I have some emails round here that could probably help you with that...
:rummage:

Yeah, try changing it to "LÂB" (that's
LB
, and on Windows you should be able to type the middle character with the num keypad, Alt+0173)...

-
To be clear, in general this is a bad idea and nobody should do it. Only if you run a small, private Discourse for you and your friends.
No reasoning why, just "if you change it you're Doing It Wrong"
-
There is a reasoning why, it could probably be worked around, but it is simpler to just enforce a minimum of 3 characters:
https://meta.discourse.org/t/how-to-allow-two-char-usernames/31637/3
https://meta.discourse.org/t/how-to-allow-two-char-usernames/31637/7

would make a larger forum's system resources sweat.

Yes
Should I bring in some Pine Sol?
you'll need something stronger. I recommend whiskey myself
-
It's not a bug -- it's a feature. If you don't want to get @ mentions, just pick a user name with two characters and a trailing underscore...
-
According to @lorne_kates, just "containing an underscore" will do
-
blakeyrat might appreciate that.

Am I to assume that there were previously underscores?
