Yet more stuff for the US to feel superior about!!!

  • Wow Eurotards, first we fix corruption in your FIFA, now we're the ones pointing out all your automakers have been polluting the FUCK out of the planet because of your dumb broken testing methods which are dumb and broken.

    SAVING YOUR ASS AGAIN!

  • @blakeyrat said:

    dumb broken testing methods

Are they not the same testing methods the EPA use?

  • Should we maybe not tell him the same thing happened in USA cars/trucks?

  • I'm not quite sure since when Mazda, Honda and Mitsubishi were European.

Did we somehow invade Asia while I wasn't looking?

  • The main issue here is that the cars - in either the US or Europe - were only required to pass the stationery rolling road test. No-one should be surprised that SHOCKER real world conditions are completely fucking different and pretty much every car fails those levels in real world tests.

I'm not justifying it, and certainly not VW's methods, but that's how it is. Complaining now that emissions are different under different conditions is just :moving_goal_post:

  • @Rhywden said:

I noticed that, I assume they mean diesels sold in Europe rather than diesels sold by European manufacturers.

Also, because it's got a catchy tune.

  • By which kind of logic does he then think that those companies sold different Diesel engines in the US?

  • @loopback0 said:

Right but we fixed it quicker.

  • People with broken glass houses have a lot of stones to throw.

I was actually having an argument with someone about this the other night. We're going to hang vw out dry. Fine with me. What about the regulators? no they're doing a good job. :wtf:

  • I thought pollution didn't matter because China does it too?

  • @Rhywden said:

By which kind of logic does he then think that those companies sold different Diesel engines in the US?

Some of them do (or variants of the same engine) as the most recent US EPA limits were lower than Euro 5 which applied over here until last month.
Except VW, who just cheated everywhere.

Probably happens less now that Euro 6 is on par with the EPA limits.

  • What if I hate that song?

    @Rhywden said:

By which kind of logic does he then think that those companies sold different Diesel engines in the US?

Most of those companies don't sell ANY diesel cars in the US. It was the eurotrash who went all ga-ga over diesel.

  • @blakeyrat said:

What if I hate that song?

    Change it, natch.

    @blakeyrat said:

Most of those companies don't sell ANY diesel cars in the US.

    Yes, that's a point too.

  • Doesn't change the fact that you morons also used the same flawed test until someone rubbed your face in it until you could not ignore it anymore. That does not count as "fixing something" in my mind.

Being called out: "Hey, stupid, your broken ass tests don't work and here's why!" does not make you automatically superior just because you're the first one. It just makes you the first one in line to the special bus.

  • @Rhywden said:

Doesn't change the fact that you morons also used the same flawed test until someone rubbed your face in it until you could not ignore it anymore.

Right; but what about all those euro-weenies who were testing the cars? Like 17 country's worth? Not ONE of them found out about the cheating? (Or, alternatively, ALL of them took bribes?)

The US is the one who exposed it. You guys, if left to your own devices, would have never, ever, ever taken VW to task.

  • Fooled your tests as well, so I don't see what you're bragging about. Your tests were as moronic and stupid as ours.

You guys would probably also lay claim to the invention of fire if lightning struck a tree over there.

But seriously, this is something you're proud of? Being cheated on for years?

Gawd, your self-esteem must've been down in the Mariane Trench if you're crowing about something like that.

  • @Rhywden said:

Fooled your tests as well, so I don't see what you're bragging about.

Are you not reading any of the words I type?

    Blah blah blah blah?

  • I guess that the name Peter Mock means nothing to you.

  • @blakeyrat said:

    17 country's worth

What are the 17 countries worth?

  • @Rhywden said:

    That's still first.

We're number one! We're number one! We're number one!

Diesel is significantly more popular in Europe, thanks to several decades of government incentives making the fuel cheaper than gasoline.

Where? I've never seen the price of diesel below that of gasolinepetrol.

Also, the Euro 6 standards have been in place for over a year now; not sure I see where Merkins exposing VW's lies is relevant to that.

<!-- Apart from Blakey being a colossal arse, that is -->

  • @RaceProUK said:

    Merkins

    Fuck you.

If you're going to type shit like that, get the FUCK out of my thread. Didn't you quit the site anyway?

  • @RaceProUK said:

Never?! It was cheaper for the last couple of months, not sure if it still is as I don't pay attention to the cost of either.
It was always cheaper until about 2001 IIRC.

Why don't you BOTH take that shit elsewhere?

And before you get pissy at me, yes, this is a reply to your post but I've quoted you and @blakeyrat because this is aimed at you both.

    Then flag it

  • @RaceProUK said:

    Then flag it

Well I thought I could deal with it like an adult and ask without needing to run to moderators. Clearly not.

  • Look, if you want a cute nickname for the US, fine. Use one.

But if it's "Merkins" expect to be treated like you're a giant piece of shit. Because using that nickname makes you a giant piece of shit.

    You giant piece of shit.

    But is it:

    • Off-topic
    • Inappropriate
    • Something else

Oh never mind, choosing is too dificult, we'll switch back to verbal abuse.*

    * Not that I would, just ridiculing Discourse.

  • SockDev

Ah yes, I forgot, you can't take a fucking joke.

  • Correct. That is obviously the answer. I have no sense of humor whatsoever.

    or would you prefer 'murica?

We're working on a maneuver to go with that name, but at the moment it's more of a gesture.

Before taking that on as an acceptable slang term for our nationality, how about you google it? And I recommend that you don't use your work filter.

@RaceProUK: If you must use a slang term along those lines, please use something like 'Merican or Murcan. The word you selected has another meaning that many from our country would find offensive as a slang term for our nationality.
