Can you visually differentiate between a Surface 2 and a Surface 3?

[poll]
- Yes
- No
- I've never worked with a Surface

I have a few concerns about our new sysadmin...
Edit, for reference:
3 on the left, 2 on the right.
-
The problem is, if I just saw one somewhere, I wouldn't know which one it was, probably. But only the 3 is approaching a size I'd be willing to use.
-
Right...but they're very distinct from each other visually. If you'd seen them each once, you'd know the difference...right?
-
Again, I don't think I could tell most black rectangles with Windows logos apart if they aren't pictured together. The 3 has the logo on the side, though, so that would help.
-
And is also bigger. And is silver instead of black. And much thinner.
-
One is bigger, obviously, but not so much bigger that it's obvious without the other one for comparison. The Windows logo is in a different place, but I'm not sure that's sufficiently different to be recognizable "if you'd seen them each once." Other than that, the differences aren't all that obvious to me.

What about the back? (3 on left, 2/1 on right)
-
I voted yes, because it's really obvious that the Surface 3 has a nearly 2 inches bigger screen.
-
much thinner
Might be obvious in person. Not at all in the picture.
silver instead of black
Yes, that's noticeably different, but is that a difference between the models, or can you get a choice of colors in a given model? Without knowing that, I'd tend to assume that the color was the purchaser's choice.
-
-
Ok, that is obviously distinctive then. As is the presence of the two small openings next to the camera lens, which are not present on the 2.
So, now I know what to look for to distinguish between them. Will I remember those differences if I happen to see one in the wild? Maybe, but I wouldn't count on it.
-
I've never worked with one, but I totally would. Except money.
-
Right...but they're very distinct from each other visually. If you'd seen them each once, you'd know the difference...right?
Wrong. Not based on those photos.
Sure, in the second photo one is silver and one is black, but I wouldn't know that a Surface 3 is always silver.
-
Right, but once you knew that it wouldn't be a difficult distinction to make.
-
Quite, but I'm just saying that it would need more than just seeing it once.
-
Having never used one, looked into buying one or followed their development, there a few things I'd have to know:
Is the size fixed for each, or can you get Surfaces of different sizes for each model?
Is the color fixed, or a choice? The things that would jump out at me as definitely different are the position of the logo (which I'd expect to stay the same in each model, regardless of these other possible differences), and the ports, sensors and such.
As you've said that the size and color are distinctive, if I've worked regularly with either one I'd expect to be able to distinguish them.
-
Is the size fixed for each, or can you get Surfaces of different sizes for each model?
1 and 2 are the same size, 3 is different. Each model is only available in one size, however.
Is the color fixed
Yes.
-
If I cared enough to actually look at them and have someone tell me which is which, I might.
-
Quite, but I'm just saying that it would need more than just seeing it once.
But you didn't select option #3...so there is the implicit statement that you have WORKED with at least one of the two!
-
It's not an intentional implication. I haven't.
-
A more interesting question is: can you visually differentiate between a Surface 3 and iPad Pro?
-
Yes, one has F keys and a touch pad.
-
What about the original surface?

Or the Surface Hub!
