Updating Data Services

So does anyone here have any experience with using ODSI to manage data services? We recently upgraded from Oracle 11 to 12, and need to update our services to prevent problems resulting from incorrect schemas. Now, there is a convienent little "Update Metadata" button, and it works pretty well. However, half the time it says that to "update" the dataservice, just delete the files! Now I'm sure 50% of our services in fact do not need to be deleted. Other times it brings up this super helpful error:

Now, if I instead delete the service and regenerate it from the database tables themselves, things work pretty well. No problem right?

Well...

It takes way more time to go through that workflow

Anyone have any ideas? ODSI basically doesn't exist according to google
