Context-insensitive ads
-
The following "context-sensitive" ads just showed up on my Gmail account. The thread in question is a discussion of copyright infringement as it applies to a line-art drawing of the Starship Enterprise.

Doesn't seem to be any ads for us to see.... but I've had some great ones too. I'll try to find them and post them here. Anyone else feeling like posting their ads, along with context to see how far off they are? I think this could get pretty humorous.

Not too long ago I kept getting "Singles in Estonia" and "Christian Estonians" Google-word ads on Slashdot. Perplexing.

I once got ads for cross-dressing supplies in an email from my mother.
*checks* That email is now showing ads for David Hasselhoff t-shirts and dog food. But I do like their policy as regards the spam folder:

Reminds me of a little PR fiasco Walmart.com had about a year ago with their context-sensitive ads.

I imagine your friends Matthew, Mark and John probably get the same ads...

Did the thread contain the word "background", meaning the part of a picture not in the foreground?
I wonder what sort of ads pop up around Dick Cheney and George Bush.

Here's an ad I got on an email I sent to myself while testing some email-related code:
Bear Watching USA
Escorted bear watching tours Watch them fish for Salmon
www.Explore.co.ukThe rest of them look like they are picking up on the word 'test' that appears twice in the message, but bear watching? WTF!?
