Windows hang on saving
-
Using Windows 8.1, and I started having this issue where clicking "Save" in notepad would cause it to hang. I ignored it for awhile because I very rarely use notepad. But today I went to save an RDP session and the same thing happened... it hangs.
So I decided to figure out why. Did some Googling and came across this:
Thought about what I had done, and remembered. I turned on the view options, auto expand to folder, show libraries, etc, etc.
So I turned them off and hey presto, save as dialogue is now ok.
I remember that I turned on the "expand to folder" option awhile back. I just turned that option off and now saving works again. Why does this bug exist? This complaint was on answers.microsoft.com over a year ago!

Can't you just Delete the file, then Undo - should be the same as Save...
-
The file doesn't exist, I want to save a new file.
-
Ah - I'm not sure then. I'm not the expert on Undo on windows; not sure what it's supposed to do to anti-files that result from deletion...

Yeah, I'm failing to see how UNDO has anything to do with this.
I must have missed reading the thread where deleting a file and undo is the same as a save.

It's <a @blakeybaiting

Naw, not this time...

It's a meme seen in threads passim ad nauseam - it would appear you've been fortunate in missing them.

I figured as much. I actually thought about adding to my reply to PJH that I didn't ask for any fucking help.

I truly appreciate the fact that everything but "Filed Under" was stripped out of that quote.
