Microsoft realizes value of Windows 10
-
So, it might be a translation error but bullet point 3 roughly translates to: >Enjoy Windows 10 valued at135 €for free*.Filed Under: Cue the people saying TRWTF is a non english OS
-
Can you explain the humor? Is it because the euro sign should go before the amount?
-
Valued at/worth I assume - implying that Win10 isn't actually worth anything.
In the English version the wording is
Enjoy Windows 10 for
£99.99free
-
Ok, so it is a mistranslation.
It means it is valued at €135, but giving it away for free.
-
It supposed to mean that but
It means it is valued at
€135, but giving it away for free.is what it actually says.
Filed Under: apologies if my OP did not translate that correctly :D I actually tried my best to capture that intent.
-
The South African version doesn't even have a value, it only says
Enjoy Windows 10 for free
So I assume it doesn't have value to begin with
-
"windows.com"? So it's actually goatse.cx?
-
I am not clicking on that link!
I don't want to be redirected to goazse.cx ... or worse end up at windows.com!!!!Filed Under: the horrors!
-
Ah, mistranslations.
One of my relatives carries a phone which sporadically would say on its lock screen what could be translated to English as "debited".
It took us quite a while to realize what the phone was saying was its battery was charged.
-
It means it
iswas valued at €135, butgiving it away for freeis now valued as €0... is how I interpreted the translation.
Google sort of agrees with it:
Freuen Sie sich über Windows 10 im Wert von
135 €zum Nulltarif
It features over Windows 10 worth
of 135 € fornothing
-
Can you explain the humor? Is it because the euro sign should go before the amount?
Because it says valued at zero, not "valued at 135 euros, but you get it for zero." Which is probably what they intended.
-
True, but that applies to every operating system, past, present and probably future.
And yes, I already know it will be true of mine, buttuming I ever get any of it done in the first place...
