Poll: log_out_strict
-
Found this today while helping someone out on another forum..
For here:
[poll]
- Leave as default
- Uncheck
- Meh.
[/poll]
I'm inclined to uncheck it, but just wondering what the feeling is among the rest of you that actually care about this.
I know a couple of people who've been 'affected' by the current setting.

People log out of TDWTF?
-
Well, both options have merit.
Hiding a "kill all sessions panic switch" in your preference section and making the per-device log-out the default in the upper right menu would probably be best?

Hiding a "kill all sessions panic switch" in your preference section
otherwise known as "changing your password"
:-P

Well, it might be more useful to be able to see each session (probably labeled by IP Location, user agent, and last seen info), so you can remove individual sessions. The "kill it with fire" approach can be annoying if you use the site from multiple devices and just want to fix accidentally leaving yourself logged in at one location.

I don't think you have a full appreciation of the function of a "kill all sessions panic switch". Mind you, it wasn't fully explained.
You will have to admit that this website / forum is definitively NSFW, but inevitably work is going to know. So part of the functionality of this switch is to activate what used to be a "boss screen". However, as we are so addicted to being here, we will have left "connected" browser sessions all over the place, so we are never more than a few seconds away from 1 or more "sessions".
In these circumstances, you really don't want to leave them lying around, do you.

Late to the game but this bugs the shit out of me.
Sometimes I just want to log out of a single browser, and get logged out of all them which is pretty annoying.
-
+1
A separate "log out all sessions" or "log out all sessions except this one" could be useful though.
-
Yeah.
Resetting your password does log them all out though, so it's at least possible if that Discobool gets flipped.
-
If I log out of a website, it's because I was on someone else's computer and don't want them to be able to do weird things. Or because I'm going to log into my other account, but I only have one here. I don't see any reason at all to have that option enabled.

But I don't want to change my password, I want to kill all sessions. What would I change my password to? I'd have to think of a new one and remember it. Unless I can change it to the same one.

Weird things would fit in here. In fact, it would explain much about several people…
-
@PJH...it looks like the vast majority of people who care want it unchecked.
-
Meh. Changing it..

IMO, the sane thing to do (so this obviously won't get implemented) is to give the option to the user. That way they can choose to log out of all instances in an emergency (if their phone gets nicked, etc).
Of course under normal use you'd never want it to log you out of everywhere. Why would anyone want that as the default? Surely it'd only be desired behaviour in exceptional circumstances.

Spoken like a developer.
