Emoji request: Actual sad emoji
-
Continuing the discussion from Why would you ever want to do that?:
Can we make that our new sad smiley? :)
Comparison:
I made a sad emoji:
It blends in but actually looks sad, unlike
@PJH, can you make this a thing? I notice there's no  yet, just and , so that might be a good spot for it.
-
Can you copy the eyes from one of the preexisting ones? The mouth looks good on this one, but the eyes are missing the white part.
-
I can try!
-
We could just switch to that set?
-
The mouth looks too high now; kinda looks like has been given a moustache
-
That set has its own quirks:
- Smile has too much forehead
- Smiley is apparently Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
- Smirk is highly suggestive
- Crying kind of resembles snot
- Cat is barely distinguishable from human at a glance
- Blush is creeping me out, can't put my finger on why
-
Gee, that sentence sounds familiar.

The mouth looks too high now;
I think he's getting worse, but another try:
Huh, doesn't look as bad tiny as it did close up.
-
Doesn't look as sad now.
-
It's an improvement, but I think the mouth is a bit on the thin side now; as @loopback0 says, it doesn't look all that sad anymore
-
Fuck you too :) Any suggestions?
-
My suggestion was the original untouched one
-
I tried to thicken the mouth and ended up with a hitler moustache o r maybe some weird mole:
New plan. Compromise working?
-
Sorry but now you're just turning it into the one we have

That's probably about as good as it's going to get, short of enlisting a professional designer. But then, a professional designer came up with , soโฆ

I quite liked the one in the OP; the tiny eyes just feel sadder than the white-eyed version. Also, the bikeshed should be hot pink.

Smile has too much forehead
Every smile is actually laughing. Do people even words?
Smirk is highly suggestive
I have no problems with this
Blush is creeping me out, can't put my finger on why
-
-
I think we need a 0-effort one
-

I agree; the white eyes look surprised. Maybe add eyebrows, or droop eyes?
-
Looks like a depressed Jelly Tot
-
you noticed? was it that obvious?
-
-
-
Made the frown more obvious.

Did I mention that I thought your avatar was a high-density QR code at first?

I think I created that before I even really knew what QR codes were. I should probably draw another one that's even easier to confuse for one. I used to draw stuff like that all up my hands and arms in high school. Still do occasionally, when I'm really bored.
Filed under: Much more intricate, though, I'd do stuff like put celtic knotwork around my wrists, And hide symbols and drawings inside

Or do like @ben_lubar and use a real one.

Why don't we just make a full set of those and call it a day?

Why don't we just make a full set of those and call it a day?
Sure:
- I need a list of desired emoji
- I may not get to this too quickly (for about a month starting the 7th I'll be away from any useful computers while working out of state)
- Someone should probably check with the creator of the logo to get approval
-
I need a list of desired emoji
For completeness, the full set of available emoji are at
http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/full-list-of-currently-supported-emoji/605?u=pjh
I've just updated the first post with the current set of stock emoji, and changed the second post to list the site specific ones we (currently) have.

I made a vector version of the logo, which is how I have been able to create so many hatted versions. I've even considered this undertaking. It's a big project though, which is why I've shied away.

So have I, which is how I've been doing the same. Although I initially made it just for the sad emoji request here.

Yeah, the full list is rather ... daunting. Perhaps just a short list to start with? Happy, sad, etc.
-
I'd like to add my concern that a standard set of emojis based on the emoticon would significantly hurt the recognizability of the emoticon itself.
-
We should start with just the basics:
- Sunglasses:
- Moustache:
- Eight pointed black star:
