You just have to click "too quickly".

Doing anything "too quickly" in discourse is bound to cause issues. I wonder how many bugs I've missed because of deliberately waiting for a page to finish loading before trying to do something.

Yes - Discosearch has additional issues if you do things too quickly.
These results arrived a few seconds after checking the box. And after the results of the search within the topic.
