Hey if you have a problem with shit on this forum, TALK TO ME (this thread title insults nobody in particular, morons), or in which we bad-order parts of @blakeyrat's brain

  • In the almost-a-decade I've been posting to the DailyWTF forums, there's never been any kind of rule or policy against insulting another member. Now apparently, there is? Or maybe I'm just singled out? Or maybe our forum is just now full of baby infant poopy-pant children who think words are scary monsters that can hurt them?

    Well fuck all of you. (OH NOES! BETTER MODERATE ME FOR TYPING THAT!)

    If you have a problem with the shit I'm typing, you talk to fucking me, ok? The PM button next to my name works just fucking fine.

    And hey! Just a thought! Maybe don't fucking invade someone else's forum community and start enforcing your bullshit Care Bears moderation rules which have never fucking existed here before. At least not without a fucking warning, you pieces of shit. This is more my community than it is yours.

  • SockDev

    For the record, while i was extremely ticked off at your decision to title your thread in the way you chose to, i did not complain to the mods. I only mentioned my feelings on the matter after i was approached by @boomzilla on the matter.

    That's all i have to say on the subject.

    Have a wonderful day.

  • I agree that working it out among yourselves is the best case, but sometimes people aren't comfortable doing that. I don't think we need to be all troll / flame all the time.

  • I don't care WHO complained to the mods, I'm just saying: we don't and never have done that on TheDailyWTF Forums, you assholes. If you don't like how this forum works, go back to Care Bears Online or whatever child-friendly cesspit you crawled out of.

    If you can't figure out how to solve your problems without having the mods make a "super secret magical rule that only applies to Blakeyrat" than grow a fucking spine and figure it out.

    It'd be nice if the moderator grew a fucking spine and told you this directly, too, but I guess he's too busy creating his avatar for Care Bears Online himself. Because fuck you. You don't apply one set of rules to one user and a different set to everybody else, no matter how much some other dumbshit begs you to.

    I don't think that's true. Though it's pretty rare.

    Please provide an example of how any of this is happening.

  • It happened just like 15 minutes ago.

  • That's one part of showing how things are unevenly applied. Necessary, but not sufficient.

  • No I'm saying "you don't" prescriptively. Like, "it just isn't done".

    I agree, she could at least have tried talking.
    Or edited the topic title herself.

  • Ah, then we're in agreement and all's well.

  • Oh man better get on over to that new thread, it's REALLY MEAN to this guy named Jack.

    OH NOES I have a big ache right in the FEELINGS!

  • At least you're bizarrely angry about something different today.

  • At least fuck you in the ass with a giraffe.

  • That's the spirit!

    Cry me a river, Captain Crybaby. Act like a jerk, get called out on it.

    BTW I thought your topic title was an asshole thing to do even for you, which probably sets some kind of record, but I didn't flag you for it, but maybe next time I will.

  • What started this topic? What did I miss?

  • Running to a mod is the opposite of "calling him out" though.

  • Stitches for snitches!

  • Discourse touched me in a no-no place

    Ok, sure, but I wasn't exactly aiming for precision. If you like, assume I meant something about karma.

    I mean, I thought attacking someone in a topic title was a whole new level of douchebaggery, even for the resident douchebag, but I don't worry about the feelings of a persona who gets butthurt, either, because, again, karma.

  • I'd prefer the karma to be in the form of a brutal counter attacking post, so I can read it and giggle at the e-drama :)

  • i have a problem with shit on this forum, discourse is shit on mobile. every thread i open jumps up like mad

    Sure, but sometimes you get The Situation attacking someone who's not going to brutally counter-attack, because bullies don't like targets that fight back.

  • Blakeyrat isn't a bully, just a nutcase, and he loves when people fight back, that's his whole thing

    If that were the whole thing, he wouldn't keep attacking people who generally don't fight back.

  • but then, he also fights with boomzilla, often with hilarious results

  • @FrostCat said:

    I fully expect that.

    What I do not expect is cowards doing an end-run around me and going straight to the mods. That's shit.

    Hey, then don't insult someone by name in a topic thread.

  • Discourse touched me in a no-no place

    @blakeyrat said:

    Sure, to a sociopathic persona.

  • @FrostCat said:

    I don't give a shit what you think about it. That's not the point.

    The point is: IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ME, TAKE IT UP WITH ME.

    If you're too much a coward to write me a PM, then get the fuck off this forum. Because that's how it works, and that's how it's always worked, and all these new morons who immigrated in uninvited from the Playskool Baby Forums can go fuck themselves.

  • Yeah that's what I mainly see. I don't think you can call someone a bully when they argue with everyone, equally, all the time, in a place specifically designed for that. Just entertainingly crazy :)

    You forfeited that nicety by your own actions.

    Clearly you haven't kept up with the modern definition of the term. Bully is, as far as I can tell, now an entirely content-free term, roughly meaning "someone said something I don't like".

  • @blakeyrat said:

    What I do not expect is cowards doing an end-run around me and going straight to the mods. That's shit.

    That's not an accurate representation of what happened, for the record.

  • @boomzilla said:

    It is from my perspective. If you have more information to change my perspective, you have to communicate it with me because I'm not fucking telepathic.

  • I just did. You're welcome.

    I'd say that your reaction makes me hesitant to do this sort of thing in the future, but it also seems like a super efficient troll, so maybe I'm getting the wrong message from all this.

  • @FrostCat said:

    I think the traditional definition of a stronger person (whether physically or through authority in the workplace or whatever) picking on a weak person still fits... Blakey has no power here beyond posting like any other user.

    If Blakey was a mod (LOL) and starting deleting people's posts or banning people he didn't like and they had no recourse, THAT would be bullying. But a crazy guy ranting on the side of the road, easily ignored? Come on, that ain't bullying.

  • @boomzilla said:

    Instantly cave to some crybaby's request?

    Yes, please be hesitant to do that sort of thing in the future. Please don't do it in the present, either.

    There's two points here:

    1. if anything, I'm the one getting bullied by people. Look at how often I get piled-on because I voice some slightly unpopular opinion. God forbid someone go against the IT group-think. Look at the mods being dicks to me, twice in a month now.

    2. I only post what people want to read anyway.

  • @blakeyrat said:

    Yeah, I move posts out of topics you've created several times.

    @blakeyrat said:

    Sweet, less work for me!

    And now the martyr complex starts.

    @blakeyrat said:

    Firstly let me say, I think it's absolutely right to contact someone if you have a grievance with them. People are not telepathic, how can you expect them to change if you don't say anything.

    However, do you really think that anyone could expect to yield results from such an approach with you? (given the attitude that comes across from your forum persona).

    I've spoken to you in PMs and you seem like an OK guy, but on here you come across as unapproachable and unreasonable. If you genuinely offended someone on here, you can't honestly say you're surprised if they don't want to PM you. They'd (rightly or wrongly) expect to be subjected to more abuse from you, and they'll probably come to the conclusion that it isn't worth the effort.

    I enjoy your forum presence, but you've got to take the good and the bad from it. If you act in a certain way, you can't ask people to expect reasonable behaviour from you.

    This sounds oddly familiar, now where have I seen this behaviour before?...

    Yeah, I move posts out of topics you've created several times.

    Not forgetting Flags/Badges was created because he wouldn't stop moaning.

    Not to say I don't agree with the creation of that category; it's good to have a place to discuss flags and badges without polluting other topics.

  • @DoctorJones said:

    Maybe they could TRY and SEE?

    @DoctorJones said:

    First of all, if you get genuinely offended on here, CONGRATULATIONS, WELCOME TO THE DAILYWTF FORUMS, because that's how it fucking works.

    Secondly, whether or not they want to PM me, it's still the right thing to do. I do a lot of things I don't want to do.

    @DoctorJones said:

    Then they can do nothing, instead of running sobbing and bawling to a moderator.

  • @RaceProUK said:

    But I was talking directly to the people I had a grievance with. I didn't bypass them by going directly to the mods.

  • @blakeyrat said:

    They could bawl to the entire community?

  • Or use a PM. Yes.

    Either way, if you have a grievance with me, talk to me. To repeat myself for the 657th time.

  • I don't get how turning your posts green is a horrible terrible thing but direct attacks in topic titles is no big deal. But then, we're often thinking opposite things, so what the hell?

  • @boomzilla said:

    I don't get how turning your posts green is a horrible terrible thing

    Because it's an abuse of mod powers.

    @boomzilla said:

    but direct attacks in topic titles is no big deal.

    I never said it was no big deal, and if the person who was insulted had simply ASKED me to change it, I gladly would have.

    READING COMPREHENSION HERE PLEASE:

    My gripe isn't that the thread title was changed, it's that someone went directly to a moderator instead of talking directly to the person they had a problem with.

    READ THAT AGAIN OK:

    My gripe isn't that the thread title was changed, it's that someone went directly to a moderator instead of talking directly to the person they had a problem with.

    Now please don't post stupid shit that has nothing to do with my actual complaint.
