  • I was shown this a few minutes ago over at Encyclopedia Dramatica.

There is a "log in/create account" link in the top right hand corner, but you can only use it to log in.

I guess they are really trying to cut down on drama.

  • Not really a wtf.  Not every site on the web allows totally open registration.

  • the wtf is how Wikipedia - an encyclopedia - has bazilion of self-references, and editor toolbars, and editor links on every page for you even if you are just an reader. they also shout at you for not knowing their little rules if you say on a discussion page that they have some errors in article, even if you don't care about Wikipedia itself and its editing process.

Agreed. But then they should just say so, leave out the words "create account" and maybe tell the user where to request access.

  • The real WTFs

     The
real WTF is that you would find it surprising, given that the entire
purpose and idea of wikipedia was to be a collaborative work written by
its readers.  Have you been hiding under a rock the past few years?

The other real WTF is that you got mixed up between wikipedia and encyclopedia dramatica...

  • bugmenot is your friend. :)

  • sure, that website is popular but that doesn't give them right to have red links that mean broken links, which is totally non standard
