Ok, I think I at least know the source of the problem. We are a 10 man organisation, and renting offices from one of our clients. We have our own network, but plug into theirs when we need to do work for them. Today was the first time I navigated to meta.d while on their network. When I navigated on mobile using our wi-fi, it was fine (I already turned off my laptop when I realised this, so didn't test it there). So the solution is: don't navigate to meta.d while on the client's network

The next step after the users is to create any categories it needs, so don't do anything to forum categories until the import is done. After that, it counts the total number of posts on the old forum and then imports the posts, waiting for sidekiq if it has a lot of <the number here would be 10> tasks.

Can't remember the last time I actually messed with the categories - think it was creating the Flags/Badges one.

Looking at the old CS forum, there were 109K users. A lot of those have zero posts. The About page is currently showing 61.5K users.
@ben_lubar, does your import include users with no posts?

I turned off email for virtually all notifications ages ago.
I think I turned it off within about 5 minutes of learning there was such an option, if not sooner. I haven't gotten an email from TDWTF since 25 May last year.
