Truncating trolling twats' tweets til Tuesday

  • "We suck at dealing with abuse and trolls on the platform and we've sucked at it for years," Costolo wrote in an internal memo obtained by The Verge. "It's no secret and the rest of the world talks about it every day. We lose core user after core user by not addressing simple trolling issues that they face every day."

Headline coming soon to a news site near you:

    #No One Uses Twitter Anymore

Seriously, if there's a site / business model more reliant on trolling than TDWTF, it's Twitter.

Original sense of trolling, or the modern media sense of "being a cunt on the internet"?

[kyon yip yip!]modern media.... always ruining things for the rest of us!

What did they expect, really? They allowed everyone to sign up in (almost) total anonymity, and gave them a mere 140 characters to play with. And because they infested every device and platform imaginable, the world's cunts and SJWs are never more than 30 seconds from another flame war.

Of course it was going to plummet down the shitter!

But then that's easy to say with 20/20 hindsight.

still should be fun when i activate @TCOTCDCK as a twitterbot.

now to figure out if it's a from twitter bot or a to twitter bot or even a bidirectional bot?

  • Social networks are short-lived. Some, like Facebook or MySpace might have lasted longer, but they still perish in the end.

What I'm trying to say is, I'd just sell Twitter to a greater fool and let them handle the shit.

I don't think the distinction matters WRT Twitter or TDWTF.

  • Discourse touched me in a no-no place

    Yes.

(OK - the modern 'bullying' version. 140 characters isn't enough to be a proper old style troll.)

  • You're right about the 140 characters thing. Imgur has an annoying 140 character limit for comments, and whenever I've tried to politely disagree with someone I always end up sounding like a cunt anyways because there's no space for details or nice words, just "youre compltly wrong about X".

  • What's worse is that the bulk of tweets are the @ and a few hashtags.
Followed by that is a 5 word summary of the post.

    "@boojay #militarystupidity #awesomecomback #sjwforisis MM, 'Sniper is a coward'".

I mean, for the modern children of enlightenment, I see no real difference from what they complain is lunacy.

    "@bobheartjc #militaryispatriotism #christiansstandup #warriorforjesus MM is a jerk".

Yeah twitter, way to promote rational discussion.

    Misogynist!

  • I'm a big fan of Twitter, and even I think they need to do something about, if nothing else, the death threats. Normal trolling is trolling; some of the shit on Twitter goes WAAAY beyond that to 4chan levels.

I'm not surprised that's yours; the only post that account's ever made has a gramming error in it
