Badges: Mediocre posters and mediocre topics

  • Finally, in parallel to the differentiation between the stock Nice Posts and more recent Nice Topics (the only difference between them being whether it happens to be the first post in the topic or not) I've mirrored this with Mediocre/Passable/Reasonable series of badges.

The only effects of this are:

    • If you've previously had Mediocre/Passable/Reasonable Post on topic starters, you'll get (if not already) a slew of Mediocre/Passable/Reasonable Topic badges - this will be a one off.
    • Because you've now got those, the relevant Mediocre/Passable/Reasonable Post badge will be removed - you won't be notified of this, but you may notice your count decreasing (if you have more than one) or it disappearing (if you only had one.)

The two effects will, in all probability, not happen at the same time.

You mean they'll be at the exact same Discomoment?

You say that as if anyone expected it to in the first place. This is Discourse after all.

    Indeed.

    Discomoment

I can't really come up with a concise definition of this.. anyone else want to have a go?

(I could do a long rambling one with examples, but that wouldn't seem to fit.)

  • Yup. Ta.

I was thinking along the lines of "an unspecified amount of time, which could be between a Discosecond and several Discodays"
Inspired by the Cornish word Dreckly

It's been wikified, so feel free to add it ;)

  • Lets see if I can force it...

i wonder if that was on purpose or not?

i mean it's pretty hard to create a topic where the OP gets 10 likes, let alone 50.

i'd be inclined to let @mott555 keep that badge. ;-)

He already has the Great Topic badge.

well, i am but a lowly Regular. far be it from me to say what the Leaders, Mods, and Admins should decide to do about badges.

although that does remind me i need to write up a request for a new type of user nominated badge. @PJH told me to do that in response to one of my flags ages ago and i just haven't gotten around to it yet.

    Nope.

    @accalia said:

    It was.

Not surprising if you think about it...

This is all just if there's some future great clamour to turn off the stock badges - I wanted the Post badges to mimic the stock ones (minus /t/1000), which meant creating the Topic badges.

    Leaders have no say.
Mods can grant and revoke badges.
Admins can create new badge types and destroy old badge types.

i sit corrected on the matter.
