Country music is all the same

-
If I had to listen to a mashup of country songs, I think the result would not be a blown mind, rather one turned to mush.
-
Well, yes, to an extent. But the fact these six songs mesh together almost exactly as if it's one song is actually very scarily impressive.
-
Country music is all the same
Well, new country is. I call it "bubblegum country", and it is all rubbish. Old country, like Waylon Jennings (my personal favorite), Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Keith Whitley, Hank Williams Sr., George Jones, David Allan Coe (if you look past all the intentional racism...) etc., that is golden.
But yes, recently released country is fucking rubbish...

Hell, almost all American rock sounds pretty identical to me too. Almost everything sounds like Aerosmith to me

You're not wrong. You are British, but you are not wrong. ;)
You have to get pretty far outside the mainstream for something original. Unfortunately, by its very definition, mainstream is what gets the most promoted.
-
On the other hand, I am a huge fan of Abney Park.
-
-
If I had the courage I'd prove it with some of my own local horribleness... But while bad country, like bad pop, is just offensively stupid, this shit makes my ears bleed and my brain turn to mush. So I'd rather not listen to it long enough to edit it all together.

-
good country is like The Highlander.
There can be only one!
-
Oh, yeah, baby:

Move to a better country.
That's not a very high bar... Are you sure that's gonna help?

Hmm... I thought @Arantor was Australian?
-
-
@another_sam is missing from that.

Hmm... I thought @Arantor was Australian?
Or French? Let's go with French. It fits that line of joke a lot better. ;-)
-
Lots of people are missing from the area_ groups because nobody ever cares about them (the groups).
@Rhywden should be part of area_deu, for example.
-
-
If @HardwareGeek got a whoosh for missing that joke, maybe you should also? ;-)
-
I was just reproducing the null object bug!
-
Already with the shifting nationalities? French it is, then! I'm sure he'll be thrilled.
-

Some new stuff is okay. I really like Steve Earle.

That was one of the worst versions of that song used for The Wire.

Round here, when someone says “country music” I'm really tempted to think of something like this:
I thought about the Song of the Day thread, but I'm just not quite that evil…
-
The first thing I thought of while watching that was, "I wonder how many broken knuckles happen while learning to do that?"
-
That image reminds me... maybe we should stick some kind of userstats variant into our userstyle.
Though I'd rename it to Forumpointzzz at this point :P
-
But they were all great.
-
The first 2 seasons yeah. I can't remember the 3rd/4th but the 5th wasn't. And the 5th season is what was posted above
-
French it is. @Arantor is a Frenchman. ;-)
I live like 50 miles from France, does that count?
-

French cultural imperialism starts small, eh?
-
-
-
Although that would almost mean I can pick Dutch or French or Belgium
-
Belgium's not that small is it?
Though I always mentally work off 1 mile == 1 kilometer.
-
Hence the almost

Or Luxembourg? Which apparently is the adjjectival form in English...
-
Or Luxembourg?
If that was close enough to Luxembourg I could as well continue under area_de
-
The Dead Trousers?

It's a pun on a metaphor.
-
They are German ... Nuff said.

The area ones were started to see if there was anything we could break with them.
The list of 'proper' groups are the stock ones:

And the ones I've added for various reasons:

Is that supposed to have a second page, or some kind of 'special' scrolling implementation? It seems that I hit the bottom of the page somewhere around the M's, with no way to proceed...

This, from memory. TL0, 1 and 2 seem to suffer from the same problem.
