What horrors require this?
-
I was reading a news article on oregonlive.com, when the site popped up an annoying survey saying I can't read the article unless I answer a survey question. That, in itself, is TRWTF, but more interestingly the survey announced that it was question "1 of 2 or fewer."
Unfortunately, the page source offers no obvious clues as to what horrors lie behind this seemingly innocuous statement. I'm sure we all know that underneath lies a Lovecraftian abomination of inhuman logic.
-
? It's either 1 of 2, or 1 of 1. Presumably based on how you answer the first question. Makes sense to me.
-
That's a new anti-adblocking technique. I've seen the 1 of n BS: in my experience if you say "i don't intend on buying what you're offering" you don't get another question.
Aside: look at this fucking hipster. The one in the middle, that is.
-
Huh, I thought about that, so I tried answering it different ways and didn't get a second question, but maybe I missed an option. Wasn't trying very hard.
-
You don't know who gets the second question. Maybe it's a 10% sample. Maybe nobody does and the copy is just stock.

I don't really have a problem with it. Adblockers show that people don't like that form of monetising, so content creators are trying something new

Maybe because they're totally broken outside the US - there are never any actual surveys, only sometimes you can catch a "promo offer" which will eat all your phone credit in a single SMS message.

That's just some dude
over
compensating for male pattern baldness, Shirley?
