Why doesn't Discourse support coloured text? (INB4 Actually... it shouldn't?)
-
Continuing the discussion from PURPLE lS OBJECTIVELY THE BEST COLOR:
I'm kinda surprised Discourse doesn't support them out-the-box. But then I've never thought about using coloured text here anyway.
The obvious observation is 'that's not civilised', which in this place is a JDGI etc. type comment deal.
Having seen thousands of forums, I came to realise that there are actually few times you'd legitimately want crazy colouring all over the show. Even big/small changes are not entirely welcome, even if abused for fun and profit here.
The weird part is that I don't actually disagree with Jeff's general premise on this one. Most people don't go creative on colouring or styling and the few times it does happen, it's actually kind of obnoxious. The niche where it does happen is the RPG world where creativity is really a thing to be embraced and the colour is good for differentiation and implying context in a way that might not be present in other contexts.
Thoughts?

It's always doable, it's merely the amount of arse it is to do.

That's a universal truth.

Discourse does support colored text.
If you just do it right.

I think we had the discussion at some point and came to the abuse conclusion? You'd probably have to whitelist colors...
We have blue, and we got green and
redsince. I think we've got enough...

hmm........... i'll have to remember that we have those.
for reasons.

What about
yellowandblue?
