Mozilla are/were backed by Google, but they still accept donations 😜

I don't think it's entirely (if at all) backed by the members of the Eclipse Foundation like IBM. It's otherwise a normal Not For Profit.
Least that's not intrusive like the Wikipedia one.

What the hell is this "promoted download"? Ugh. The stench of marketing is everywhere.
But OK, the donate stuff isn't so bad.

Hmm, BIRT.
The thing I've always found hard about Eclipse is that they aren't good at explaining what each of the profiles of their system is for, why I might choose that one over another. (Yes, I know I can install additional plugins to get effectively the union of several profiles.) I see their download page, but it's just so damn confusing with all the terminology that I just don't grok.
The product I work on is a bit the same way, except we are careful in the names we pick to select things that are terms that are pretty widely understood or googleable. “<product> for Astronomy” and “<product> for Biochemistry” are pretty clear!

Right, I've been using Eclipse for +10 years and I always download the basic Java one and then install plugins.
m2e? Was "Maven Eclipse Plugin" taken? Then all the weird names like SWT and others. It's a pain.
-
From this it becomes obvious that Eclipse is enterprisey business.

Thanks. I had managed to put the memory of that Flappy Birds clone out of my head.
But now this is in my head again...

Thank you for stealing my afternoon.

The Eclipse project was originally started by IBM, but after a few years they gave control of it over to an independent not-for-profit.
