Look, I don't go out of my way to hunt down and kill analytics in general. The primary purpose of the spoofing DNS cache I use is to block advertising servers; *.google-analytics.com happens to be on the upstream blacklist it subscribes to, and I can't be arsed whitelisting it again because it's from fucking Google so meh. Collateral damage, except nobody's actually damaged.
Also, the fact that my LANs are dark to Google Analytics has no negative consequence for me whatsoever; I have no motivation at all to help fetch its scripts and let them run.

EDIT: in fact, in especially Google Analytics' case, the vast vast vast majority is not. The majority of Google Analytics use is on people's Tumblr's, WordPress and YouTube pages, very few of which use or care about advertising in any way. I mean if you were blocking Atlas UATs, for example, yeah I'll grant you: 99% of that's advertising-related. But Google Analytics? Probably not even 1%.

Some excellent web analytics questions are "How many people visit my site", "Which pages are the visiting", "in which order", and to a lesser extend "How many of those pages are delivered slowly, or returning errors".
I do not think your bank runs web analytics for marketing purposes. Or your airline. Or amazon. Or ebay.
