.NET Consultants

A literal WTF from the sidebar:
If I recall correctly, .NET has only been around since 2002. I know things like this have been posted before...but I find it extremely ironic that this is listed under "Non-WTF Jobs."
Xede wins an internet.

Beta's have been around since 1999 or so.
-
I had benefitis once. But I got better.

Looks like the person who wrote that description didnt know how to fill in the years part and borrowed it from their Java consultant posting. Miserable Failure.
-
I personally checked out Xede and spoke with their recruiting manager. It's a good place. I've rejected quite a few crap places.
Keep in mind that "3 - 6 years" is a general term that means "Developer/Programmer II" and that, technically, as someone else mentioned, betas have been around since '99. I started professionally using it for projects in '01 and consider myself to have 5+ years experience.

According to wikipedia:
1.0 Beta 2 1.0.2914.0 2001-07-01 And I was wondering the same at http://thedailywtf.com/forums/thread/95924.aspx

Interesting. I have 0 years of experience with .NET and anything related to Windows development, so I'm not really one to talk...

I know a lot of MSDN-subscribers were using it well before then -- but who knows, that was a while back. Either way, i'll go and edit the ad to be 3-5 years. It was probably a simple typo or misundersanding by the person who entered it in. These are generally HR people and not tech people.

There's an ad for a job on the side bar now that, while it's not strictly for a .NET consultant, is definitely a WTF and I didn't want to start a whole new thread.
I guess the ads detect where I am and try to pick local jobs, and seeing as I'm in Melbourne AU, I got the following:
RoR Developer needed for Cheltenham office• Ruby on Rails, Oracle
• Print Exp. Huge Plus
• SQL, C++, Unix, .Net
• Victoria, Australia-- Cheltenham? I thought these jobs were supposed to be Non-WTF!

The WTF for me right now is that my 'local' jobs are apparently in Cyprus and St. Kilda ...
