I failed to see the "accidentally" part.

My son sent me this. It's not new, but I don't remember seeing it posted here before.

Welcome to my life as a teacher. Watching kids take the longest possible route to doing something with a computer is actively painful. Heck, they're all active users of iPads (for school) and didn't know about the two-finger swipe trackpad that's been there since iOS 10.

Police have apologised after giving infected memory sticks as prizes in a government-run cyber-security quiz

All the drives were manufactured in China but the CIB ruled out state-sponsored espionage, saying instead that the bug had originated from a Taiwan-based supplier.
It said a single employee at the firm had transferred data onto 54 of the drives to "test their storage capacity", infecting them in the process.
Only older, 32-bit computers are vulnerable to the bug and common anti-virus software can detect and quarantine it, it said.
So to infect those memory sticks, the computer likely was also infected with that virus and should thus be a 32-bit computer...
I think we found one of those Windows XP machines!

What's the problem?
Dark grey text on transparent background with dark theme is recipe for reading failure.
-
@tsaukpaetra From your screenshot it looks readable enough. Sometimes to save battery I read ebooks that way, with the brightness down. But also, I'm using a dark theme and the background on the embed is light for me, at least on desktop.

Ah, yes I had F.Lux enabled and brightness at comfortable levels for the environment (at that time was around 0.0035 lux), which meant that the grey text was only slightly lighter than the screen's brightness itself (one day I'll get OLED screen phone again, not today).

I thought it might be that, but it looked sufficiently readable to me.
Anyway, that's why I've added the pink background of shame to my custom CSS.

I added this to my custom CSS box
.reddit-post { background: white; }
but it doesn't seem to have taken

Being inside an iframe with a different origin tends to do that.
My rule applies only to the iframe itself:
.posts > li[component="post"] div.content iframe { background-color: #FFDDFF; }
You'll need the likes of Stylish to customize the CSS inside embeds.
-
@zecc That's done it, thanks.
Got thrown by the fact that Chrome dev tools were perfectly happy to change the background based on my simple solution
-
-
@jaloopa As it turns out, I had written a custom CSS rule for it ages ago and forgot about it:
.embedly-card { background-color: #ddd; }

How many dentists does the TSA employ? And do we count each cavity they attempt to find separately or only once per mouth?

@doctorjones This is a print newspaper, right? It looks like a printed tabloid, but I'm not sure.
'Cos while I can see it happening as an unfortunate result of a poorly considered ad-rotator on a web site, if a print compositor were to look at this placement and say, "yep, looks good to me!", that's... seriously?
Though if it was the Daily Fail, well, from what I've heard about that paper, I suppose that it could have been deliberate. Know your market and all...
