Are the key caps made of diamonds?
Filed Under: and do the make wading boots with a logo resembling a bridge on the soles?
Well, so much for that. Anyway, the references were to the songs "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes" by Paul Simon (I almost wrote that as 'Samoan' for some reason, , must have Dr Gonzo on my mind), and "A Bridge Over Troubled Waters" by Art Garfunkel (whose solo career never came close to being what Simon's has been).

Seriously, who the fuck ships a general-purpose computer made for everyday use without a calculator preinstalled?
I thought iPads are only for viewing videos. And Facebook/SnapChat/etc. WTF do they need a calculator for?!?

@dcon You forgot that add to assist the sarcasm-impaired.

@xaade You need more to also teach proper capitalisation and punctuation.
-
@ben_lubar Trick or tweet?
-
Why was the cajun upset when he picked up his photo order and there was seven different shots of Santa Claus?
Because he asked for a picture of "Santa and his seven render".
-
@xaade If you're using the English language. Other languages are different.

Bonus points to this commenter:
Also, the context for those who don't get this or the original costume post
He's a QA analyst and his costume references a glitch a Assassin's Creed Unity:

@ben_lubar Ah, I'm not used to hearing "Pegi", so I didn't make that mental association.

Pan European Game Information, according to the Google. So it's probably going to whoosh most of the USAian continent.

I'm European, but I never heard of PEGI.
When I was younger, no-one cared about ratings, not me, not my parents and not the seller at the gamestore.
These days I don't play much, but I still don't care about ratings, and thank God so far we haven't had an outrage about any particular violent game in our country so apparently neither does anyone else.

I'm in North America but I see a lot of game trailers online with the PEGI rating at the end.

I've noticed the same online, but I'm in Europe and I'm not sure how much that skews it. I imagine it could be related to PEGI ratings being easier to obtain for unrelated content, or them being easier to understand because they use actual age numbers. What does M for Mature (used by the American ESRB) mean exactly? No looking it up!

It's not that hard, it's 18 just like every other context of "mature" or "adult" except for alcohol in some jurisdictions. But even without that pre-existing knowledge, I don't think it's too hard to figure out which rating among "Everyone", "Teen", "Mature", or "Adult Only" would be appropriate for your kids.

All of them?
I grew up playing 18+ video games and watching 18+ movies and I still haven't murdered anyone.
-
@obeselymorbid Right, but for parents who care about that sort of thing, "Mature" is not necessarily any less informative than "18"

So is there a difference between mature and adult, or not?
-
@jaloopa It's like "R" vs "X" rating in movies. R rated movies get wide release in theatres, X generally don't. Same with games: Mature rated games are released by major publishers and sold in stores, while AO-rated games aren't.

Wow, what sort of game are they hunting that they need to haul their kills in trailers?

I'm not European. I've seen it on Steam trailers, so I recognize the name and logo, but I didn't know what it stood for until now. Or maybe I did but forgot because I didn't care.
