GIMP isn't a fair comparison. Even Notepad blows GIMP out of the water as an image editing tool. Making fun of GIMP is like hopping aboard the short bus and ridiculing everyone, it's not enough of a challenge to be any fun.

Idk. Is Paint.NET open source or not? It's what I use if MS Paint isn't enough, though my graphics needs are admittedly pretty basic.
I just know I downloaded GIMP once a few years ago and couldn't even figure out how to start using it, but Paint.NET took me all of twelve seconds once installed.

I was hoping for some insight on what makes a product good and what makes one bad. You said "it's better". I asked how you came to that conclusion and you told me "it's way better". It's pedantic to ask for an explanation? If it's too much to ask, say so.
My opinion isn't even counter to yours. I agree, GIMP is lame. Like so much FOSS stuff.
But I don't think it's enough to simply agree. I think it's important to figure why a person believes something and not just feel content that they happen to (ostensibly) believe the same thing as me.

There's a billion posts both here and on the old forums from me explaining exactly what software I consider good and bad and why. If you really care, look them up.
But you don't care. You're just pulling the Boomzilla asshole tactic of asking me a billion questions in the hopes you'll catch me contradicting myself. Which is 1) pointless (of course I contradict myself all the fucking time), and 2) annoying as shit.

Got any recommendations for commercial source control systems?
Some people have good luck with TFS, but I haven't ever touched it, so I won't recommend it personally. AccuRev is...quirky (terminology-wise), but if you can make it work for you, I've seen it pull off some rather amazing things, despite having a rather sucky Java GUI.
Do not touch ClearCase with a 50' barge pole though!

Also, of course I would think that someone who disagrees with me of wrong. If I thought they were right, I would agree with them. (attitude exaggerated for effect).

Worst buttumption ever. It's like getting mad when you took a long, complicated, hard route to get somewhere, and then one of the locals says "Oh, just take this and that road, and you'll get here in no time".
Tip: the correct answer to that situation (for the metaphorical traveler at least) is to hold back on the ranting and rage and instead nod, going "Thanks, I'll have to remember that for next time." It might be a little uncomfortable at first, but it'll make your life a lot better in the long run. You'll learn more that way, too.

O god, mercurial is complete shit at big repositories. I tried to clone netbeans and it fucking took A HOUR. TO CLONE and its only 1 gig in size. Most of the time wasn't even spent downloading, it was figuring out what to do. The linux kernel which is much more massive in size takes only 10 minutes with the biggest overhead being just the download size. And because netbeans is so large, any mercurial command took minutes to execute.
