Viewing raw from a post, then going back removes a post you've done after the fact.

Continuing the discussion from HTML tag abuse thread:
There's an explicit break in the line near the end. The question, of course, is was that intentional, or added when it was posted?
- Open a post
- Make a reply
- Click on a link that goes to the 'Raw' view (this can also be repro'd using my broken link anchor code going to the undefined page
- click back
- Ponder where your missing posts went.
Extremely weird things can happen if you also have people editing the posts between views, because sometimes you see the new posts, sometimes you see the old posts, sometimes you see the edited posts and sometimes you don't. It's very magical.

It's in the quote from @ChaosTheEternal's post.

Doh!
Thought there was a new UI element that was a shortcut to it... just ignore me.

2) Make a reply
3) Click on a link that goes to the 'Raw' view (this can also be repro'd using my broken link anchor code going to the undefined pageQuestions
a) Do you type anything in addition to simply quoting after step 2?
b) If yes to (a), do you give DC a chance to save the draft to the server before step 3?I did both and couldn't repro.
-
a) You have to actually post the content to the page
b) Irrelevant, because the content was posted.

A girl can dream, can't she‽
I want to test this raw post thing?
and leaving myself a linky for test... http://what.thedailywtf.com/raw/1362/8

Well, my post didn't go away, but the raw link didn't work for a bit after the post showed up. It told me it was private or didn't exist. Which I'm guessing is because the UI slots your post on the screen while sending it, so if you click the link and then hit back fast enough, you've reloaded the page before your post has actually cleared the server's full posting process.
I bet you could accomplish the same thing by posting something and hitting F5 really quick. Then you'll have to wait for the server to process your post before it sends it back to you.
-
b) Irrelevant, because the content was posted.
By "posted" do you mean:
- it showed up on your screen or
- that you waited for a (non-existent) confirmation from the server that your content was accepted and is now feeding out to users
There is no actual feedback from the server for posts being accepted, that I know of. There's the feedback that happens when your post fails, which causes funny things like your post slotting in, then getting posted after by someone else, then your post disappears and a message pops up about it being invalid.
-
I click 'reply' to post the message, I can click on a link, and use the back button, and the message goes away. 100% repro on my side, and time since last message doesn't matter. changing topics, coming back, then trying to repro it is unsuccessful. It has to be an in order reply
-
In order reply + click link + back button was what I did both of my first 2 posts; never bugged out for me.

Ah - sorry. Thought this was about drafts....
