I was always fond of the Gambit, but you're a dastardly scallywag for using it in that situation. But the Reverse Taylor Defence! Well, that's just got to be the right thing here.
Sloane Square, with an either way option for Cockfosters and Arc de Triomph. Let's see you wriggle out of that!

Damn. I was hoping you weren't going to go there. I haven't seen the Reverse Taylor for a while, I thought people had forgotten about it. It's not even like Brooke's Advance will work on that one either.
Cockfosters isn't an option, either, that would open the way clearly for you. But Arc de Triomph, that gives me an idea. You probably shouldn't have said it, because I wouldn't have thought about Dee's Deadpan, which would get to Marble Arch.

Dee's Deadpan is tantamount to suicide at this point of the game, surely? Especially using it to get to Marble Arch. You might have got away with Caledonian Road and Barnsbury, or maybe even Pudding Mill Lane, but Marble Arch?
Anyway, enough criticism. It's risky, I know, but ...

The Deadpan is always risky. That's what makes it so effective because it's pretty much a double-triple-and-quadruple bluff about where to go next. Theydon Bois? That wasn't expected at all. I was firmly pretty much counting on a move to Rickmansworth, though I'd have been more than happy with Uxbridge1. Theydon Bois, though, that's inspired.
I think, though, the correct course of action now is back to Snaresbrook.
- A game of Uxbridge English Dictionary would be cool but sadly I'm much better at Mornington Crescent than I am at the UED.

I hadn't even thought about Rickmansworth1, although now you mention it, it's probably the most obvious move there was from Marble Arch. However, as Snaresbrook also suggests Rickmansworth, albeit as a second or third change, I'm starting to suspect you're trying to pull a quintuple Humph on us.
Pontoon Dock might provide an interesting deviation, but as I'm not sure if we're playing under Baxter's variant, which would disallow the DLR, I have to go for the next best thing.
Hatton Cross. I believe that gets me a double Oddie.

It does get you a double Oddie, and no, it wasn't a quintuple Humph, but simply a double Humph. The only problem with Hatton Cross is that it has rather left you open, I'm afraid.
Fortunately for me, we're not playing Baxter's variant - more than just disallowing the DLR, it would mean I couldn't play Lyttleton's Trumpet... but I can... which gets me to...

I hate discourse so much I couldn't even bear to finish reading this post. And now that I'm in a post window, I see the fucking markdown and the stupid yellow postit of hatred, and I'm getting sadder and sadder.
I'm sure that the stories will be as hilarious as ever, and I'm sure that the comments will be just as fresh and witty as ever, but this interface is just too ugly for me to find out. I've posted under various names at various times, including this one. I've been one of the Legion of Nagesh, and I've had a frist or two.

Obviously, I never created an account. Why would you? I only created this one because the anonymous post has been abolished, as I found out when I went to comment on the most recent article. But I've been using the site for years, under various names, as I say.
So yeah: I created an account to say that I agree with the post at the head of this thread, and that it's unfortunate but this design really is bad enough that I'm not going to be back. So, ta! Now that I've found the notifications settings, I think that's it for me.
