I think I've found where WTFs come from.
-
Now the question is, what do we do about it?
-
Quick.... kill it!
-
So it's called WTF Consulting? And it's listed as a Pawn Shop? Name and what it's listed as don't match so it's probably a joke.
-
That's in the middle of the jewelry district in Boston, so a pawn shop would be expected there. Not sure what to make of it otherwise.
-
That's like three blocks away from where I work, I'll check it out on the way home and report back.
-
Also, Google street view is waaaaaaay out of date. There's still Borders banners.

I think that's the Jewelry Building, meaning looking would involve actually going inside and finding the correct suite, so nobody would blame you if you thought it was too much trouble for just a few yuks.

Look, the Web's only been with us for, what, 22 years? You can't really blame people for still treating it like a 7-bit-ASCII-only BBS, can you?

I failed. It is the Jewelry Building, and I was all set to go inside and at least try to find a directory or something, but muscling my way through the four crackhead townies arguing outside the door about plastic grocery bags and who they belonged too (yes, really) didn't seem worth it. There is a limit to what I'll do for the lulz.

Wonderful - a piece of forum-abuse that actually made it to gmail.
Twat.

[mod - PJH] Removing that piece of twattage. I didn't realise that CS was quite that broken....
Edit: Yeah, sorry, I had to see what would happen. I've been wondering ever since Signature Guy showed up.

Considering where the Web has brought us, I can't say it's much an improvement over the 7-bit-etc.-etc.
I spent the maximum amount of time I cared to spend (15 seconds) to try to figure out how to embed a link in a forum post with no luck, so, y'know, copy and paste.
Unless..wait...do you really just put an a tag in?
(edit: son of a bitch, you totally just do.)

Ah, Downtown Crossing. Where you've got to be really specific about just what kind of rock you're in the market for.

Sometimes I think I'm a cynical asshole who bashes entire technologies just to make his own pitiful life seem less empty, but then I meet someone like spacecadet and I'm like "Well, I guess I'm well-adjusted after all."
You wouldn't happen to be Richard Stallman by any chance, would you?

I will have to check this and get back to you. It's Thursday, right?

Also I think you're thinking of Clifford "Cuckoo's Egg" Stoll, who went on to write a book called Silicon Snake Oil about how nobody would ever buy things over the Internet or use it for video or music because come on, get real.

I like Clifford Stoll, but, no, I meant Stallman. I think it's pretty clear the guy prefers a BBS to the web: http://stallman.org/.
About the only thing on there that requires post-1990 technology is that sweet comic that he/you made:

I made you some image macros:

Yeah not me then. I'm only moderately overweight and there are no vertebrates nesting in my beard.
But if you felt like making more Stallman image macros, I wouldn't be opposed.

If it's 1997 again, buy CSCO, hold until about March of 2000. Buy defense stocks then and ride out the next 18 months. Wait to buy AAPL until about 2003.

Having a logo before an actual product is the definition of failure in my opinion.
