Maybe it's a good thing dev depts usually remain quiet...

  • sitting at work this afternoon, downloading the latest java sdk, the developer next to me comes out with..............

him: "you know why it's called java don't you? someone misspelled jargon"

    (silence)

me: "what? was that a joke?"
    him: "yeah"
me: "did you just make that up?"
    him: "yeah"
me: "that was the worst joke i've ever heard."

My standard response to this question is "It is if you think it is."

    : )

    Not as bad as:

Q: Why did the monkey fall out of the tree???

    A: IT WAS DEAD!

Seriously though lol.... what would you expect from a bunch of programmers?

  • This conversation reminds me of, what else, a Dilbert cartoon:

  • Two sandwiches are sitting next to eachother in the fridge.  One
says to the other "gee, it sure is cold in here", to which the other
sandwich replied, "Oh my god!  A talking sandwich!"

  • <FONT face=Tahoma>This one's quite popular here...

Q: How do you put an elephant in a fridge?

A: Open the door. Put the elephant in the fridge. Close the door.

Q: How do you put a giraffe in a fridge?

A: Open the door. Remove the elephant in the fridge. Bend the giraffe's neck. Put the giraffe in. Close the door.

  • It's white and if it falls from a tree, your refrigerator is broken.
    What is it?

    Your refrigerator.

    Maybe something like this?

Or are you saying that they won't hire you as a programmer if you reveal some sense of humor when they ask you trick questions like this?

  • Q: How many Prolog developers does it take to change a light globe?

    A: no

Q:what did the shell say to the user?

A: bash: what: command not found
